doubt this thread will get much attention (other than a possible request for a bug report) but, for the record, I've been having lots of CTD probs in the last week or 2, but had never really suffered from them before that.
Hopefully, whatever it is we're experiencing (and I'm pretty sure it's not client side, as I'll sometimes crash one account while the other stays up) will be resolved with a new install of the full Empyrean Age client.
If not, I'm scared for the stability of the game, b/c this CTD is really getting out of hand, at least for me.

I also have been experiencing Crash to Desktop every 5 minutes or so for the last week when usually I have a very stable connection. I cleared cache to no effect, uninstalled and reinstalled client to no effect.
It is only eve crashing not anything else. This is very frustrating especially as it hasn't happened before to me.
This is just an FYI to CCP that someone who usually has a great connection is having issues atm.

I'm experiencing crashes when right clicking once while in warp for quite some time now.

right clicking occasionally does it, but it crashes A LOT now, when it had never done it before. And, I logged a bug report, and petition, 7 friggin days ago, no answer.

I seem to have fixed my random frequent disconnects that have been occuring the last two weeks.
My fix was the uninstall of my audio driver (Sigmatel Audio card) and downloading and reinstalling the latest one. It seems to have become corrupted for some reason.
Hope this helps someone.

We're investigating issues where many people are losing connection if they leave their client idle for a few minutes. It's proving to be a very difficult issue to track down however so I must ask for patience while we work on finding why this is happening.
In the meantime we've found that if you keep your client updating it tends to stay active correctly. Things like keeping "Help" channel open, or orbiting a can can work to keep you from disconnecting. ____________________________ I break things.

I have a few things to add to this thread which should be of use:
1. I have always suffered an issue whereby if I go "afk" in eve I get disconnected after approximately 5mins.
2. When running multiple clients on the one computer, it is possible for one client to get disconnected due to AFK, but not a second client (if I was using the second client).
3. I've noticed that it's not until you try to "do" something that the client reports it is disconnected.
4. Much more interesting is I've noticed whatever you try to "do" actually occurs on the server! For example - if I am afk in space for 10mins in a safespot the following occurs:
a) I am still online according to other clients "friends" list b) I still show up in local c) I still sit in space d) If I click "warp to planet x" - my client instantly quits and says "connection lost" e) BUT: Meanwhile - my ship will actually begin to warp to planet X, and I will instantly drop from local and the server.
So to me that implies that somehow the client goes crazy during the afk period, but whatever you try to do will be sent to the server before you are actually disconnected.
I can replicate this anytime I want, so I'm happy to help if needed.
p.s. I have a RL friend who lives 5km from me and it doesnt happen to him. He can still afk for 5 hours and have no issue. I've been meaning to take my computer to his place (or him bring his laptop to mine) - so if I can I'll do that this week and post the results (to help isolate ISP vs Computer).

I also suffered from this... there is however an easy solution. Join the help channel. the constant flow of text keeps the connection alive.
Works for me even if i run 3 clients.
Hope this helps Gus H Regards, Gus H

I've tried that - but sometimes I still get disconnected. Does the Help channel have to be "open" on the screen, or can it be minimised in a small tab in the corner of my screen?

If anyone having troubles staying connected has a wireless home network and is trying to play Eve wirelessly, switch to a direct ethernet cable to the hub. Worked for me 100%. I can get drunk and fall asleep in the chair all night now and it still stays connected .
When I was trying to play wirelessly, any period of inactivity from a few seconds to minutes would lose connection, sometimes "silently" so it took an action (button press, open market etc) to force the connection to acknowledge closure. At first I switched back to my old DSL modem and noticed this was rock steady, then tried the cable to the hub - I have never looked back. I did bug rep it, and even though the logserver file was full of big red stop lines and huge chunks of yellow I am not sure CCP actually could see what was happening. Left me thinking there is something in the client software that doesn't like the <1ms first hop to the router. Then again I am an IT numpty so this is probably way off mark.
This was back in March 2008. Last week out of curiosity I unplugged the cable and connected wirelessly to the hub, within 20 minutes I took a pee break and on my return, bingo, was disconnected.
Hope this helps some of you, coz it sure saved my sanity.

it's probably the ccp loadbalancer timing out the connections when no traffic is flowing (which is understandable)
the next time the client/server actually does something the client/server gets an error from the tcp connection and disconnects (the align rotation is probably started without server confirmation)
so keep some traffic active (aka help channel) or get the loadbalancer to send tcp keepalives in intervals shorter than the timeout so the connection is not timing out or the keepalive shows the user disconnect

The help channel thing had no effect for me.

Just to clarify two points:
1) I am on a LAN connection (i.e. no wireless)
2) When I said my ship completes the "last command" before disconnecting, I know this because I had my alt sitting next to the character in question, and watched him warp off to the planet I selected (while he was disconnecting). Therefore the command from the Client reaches the server, and the server "responds" to say "ok - you are now aligning to the planet" - and it is at this exact moment the client disconnects (but you continue to warp to the planet, and then you do an emergency warp afterwards).
