Post everything negative about Holland.
Seems every non US resident knows all the evil doings on the most evil and vile United States I thought it would be good to point out that every country has negative things that go on within its borders.
Post anything negative you know about Holland. Heres one negative:
-They're intolerant and kill people who make movies some may disagree with
Keep it going...

A main City in Holland is Amsterdam. And if you hit a "bar" while waiting to fly home...you might spend the next 6 hours of your life in living hell thinking the flight attendant is trying to steal your pants.

Soft drugs are NOT legal in the Netherlands, we just condone selling in certain places(our famous 'coffee'shops), growing your own stuff and possession of small quantities for personal use only. Heck, you're can buy it in a coffeeshop, but every step needed to get it to the coffeeshop is illegal. WTF, weird country this is.

French people on the other hand speak dutch perfectly..
..oh wait, most of them can't even speak English.
Edit: Yes we're indeed greedy, not sure about the driving bit, haven't seen it quite as bad in Holland as it was around Paris though, that was just pure chaos.

I'm pretty sure that getting a driving license is more difficult in the Netherlands than anywhere else. You're not getting your license handed to you just because you know how to turn the wheel, accelerate and brake in an automatic car (harr harr, are driving exams really that easy in the us?)

Lets clarify some thing up, I live in Belgium. 20 km or so away from the border, one of my neighbours is from the netherlands. What I say is from first hand experience.
When a nederlander goes on vacation for example, he takes everything from home food and drink. And try's to make minimal costs on vacation.
In the netherlands they drive okish I think, but as soon they cross the borders they seem to forget the fundamentel basics of how to drive. Just 2 days ago I saw a netherlander doing something on a crossroad I nearly visit everyday, I have never seen before thats totally against the rules.
ALso their french is horrible, when someone speaks french, I instantly recognize it when they are from the netherlands. By the way they pronounce things. For example, they say bonjour like ponchour and things like that.

Yes it is. The theoretical exam is a very simple exercise in common sense, takes about 10-5 minutes all in all. Then you have the practical part of the test on the same day usually, which in my case consisted of driving around the block, showing I knew how to parallel park, and that was it basically. I had 0 faults in both the theoretical and practical tests, and I never even studied or looked at the book for the theoretical part.
Total cost for my dutch license: upwards of 1200 guilders back in the day. Total cost for my US license: 25 dollars and about 2 hours of my time.

You know, I wish I( a Dutchman) could disagree with you there, but uhm, I can't. At least not on the French stuff( which is a language we seem to hate as much as we hate German) and the holiday stuff. Not sure about our driving across the border. However let's just say I can think off a few people who prefer to take any route going through Germany for the simple fact they can drive fast there. Without being used it it of course. Only car crash I've ever seen on the Autobahn was a Dutch Beemer flying of the road in the rain.

1200guilders( or around 550 euros) for a driver's licence? When did you get yours? These days E550 will just about get you your practical exam( E150), the theoritical one( E50 or so) and the actual licence ( around E40-50). And with driving lessons costing E40 easily these days your never gonna get enough lessons to get that license. Because in the current system 20 to 30 lessons is fast. Thank goodness my parents paid for my license.
EDIT: Can't spell

I got mine about 12/13 years ago by now. Back then lessons where around 60-80 guilders a pop, and I did my exam after 10 lessons. Being able to drive without thinking about the mechanics of driving a car since 16 was an absolute bonus at the time. My instructor knew about it, thank god the guy taking the practical exam never heard about that
However I think by now the whole deal with getting a license is one big set up to make both the driving instructors and the 'CBR' more money, while pretending it's all in the interest of safety... From what I hear it's almost a given that kids fail after their first practical exam, which will 'require' them to take extra lessons, and take another test. You do the math...
