So if I declare myself as a member of the Gallente Navy, trying to shop in Jita is going to be suicide?

Jita is Caldari high-security sovereignty. The Caldari Navy will respond to your presence.

If shopping alts didn't exist, then FW would have the potential to balance the market hubs. But shopping alts do exist, so there will probably only a slight shift in market activity and supply from Jita to the other trading hubs. It would be a change for the better because Jita would be less crowded. And (as always) the traders and industrials will benefit.

the navies are not the biggest problem here anyhoo, these systems will be filled with players signed up to FW who will agress any trespasser alot quicker than the navy will turn up (bout 30secs-1min i found on SiSi)

The Navy isn't what will kill Jita, it's the new swath of low-sec cutting it off from all the Gallente customers that will kill it. The new low-sec, filled as it will be with combatants and pirates, will make it a lot harder for industrialists to buy low in one empire and sell high in another. I think we'll definitely see markets becoming more decentralized, even for non-participants in the war.

I have a feeling that the population in Jita will sligthly decline after Faction Warfare begins due to the fact that standings will fall quickly for those actively participating for our worthy opponents against the corporations of the Caldari State.
However, this does provide an opportunity to diversify the markets and encourage capsuleers to take their provisions to other stations, systems, and regions. Or we could see a bunch of Gallente ships warping in and attempting to disrupt Jita... thank goodness faction NPC ships were upgraded...

In any given population there is someone with a problem.
The EvE forums have enough people in them that someone will have a problem with something.
The amazing part is that people only post about things they have a problem with. So in the end, it seems like nobody likes anything.

The best thing is markets MIGHT become more decentralized AT LAST ... wich is a boon ... only crap about FW that might actually work.
