I'm not going to drool into a deep and sympothetic thread, because that would be hypocritical of me.. I don't care for people who beat around the bush.
Anyways..
EVE-DB, www.eve-db.com - Well known Statistical database for EVE Online will be closing down. I myself am leaving EVE, and Synex is just tight with time - not enough to get all these features that I've been asked for, begged for, and some - payed for. To those of you who are programmers, and think "Well I can help!" or for those of you who did email me, don't worry - I saw the email, and I'm forwarding them directly to Dancer.
Thats right - I've already turned over our files to EVE-I (www.eve-i.com). The second version of EVE-DB almost made it out.. but time came to a pinch.
EVE-DB started out as a manually updated IRC Bot that ran off of my computer in Beta 5. It now gets about 30k hits a day. I thank you all for your support, and thank you that one person who sent in a donation as a thank you present - didn't need to do that :)
For those of you who are just pawing to get at our files, well, sorry. I've been waiting a good 3-4 weeks now on a reply from Hellmar about publicaly publishing our extraction methods, for both the items and galactic information.
I'm sure EVE-I, its current staff, and any new ones to be added for this job will handle it greatly.
I will continue to update EVE-DB until EVE-I get something up and running; even if they fail to have something up past my account cancle-ation date.
Don't get me wrong, I love EVE.. but I just don't have the time for the game, much less a major fan site.
I will be compiling a couple of zip-packages of different images, such as all the ships that are INGAME and other things like complete icon sets, etc.
If you have any requests as to background colors in regards to icons that I use (other then black or white) let me know, and I'll get around to it.
Other things like ships not ingame yet, such as rogue drones, dungeons, etc.. well.. those will have to stay with me I guess.
CCP has tons in store for you guys ;) so sit tight.

Eve-db was one of my most used, and respected sites. Sorry to see it go, thanks for creating/running it for so long.

I'm a bit sad to see it fold as I like more independent sources of information, but thanks for the handover to Eve-I.

I think it will be a good move to transfer the databse to eve-i, since they seem really to be up for it.
Have fun, and maybe in some distant future you will return...
I mean, you at least know what tech 5 might bring, so come back in time *g*

I know I used EVE-DB on more than one occassion in the past when I was working on events and needed some quick info on a module or ship. This is a resource that will be sorely missed. Send me another e-mail and I'll see what movement I can get going on the code again.

I rarely used www.eve-db.com but that's because I'm a lazy mackem and usually asked for stats in local
Would be nice if the new owners of the db upkeep (or whatever) could make it available ingame.
P.S: Can I have 1% of your stuff?

Go download yourself mIRC. Once you've installed it, open it and in the text line, type /server irc.stratics.com -j #eve-online
I'll be there, and over on #eve-chaos on Coldfront network, amongst many other channels.
My AIM is Volcanoes, my msn is [email protected], and.. well I can't recall my ICQ.. Don't keep your hopes up in regards to the messengers.. but I guess i'll keep it open from now on rather then EVE.

What about a database of all items/skills/ships/modules in tables ?
.dat/.ctl (oracle or a standard format) or something like that
Make it accesible in .zip format for eve-i, eve-db or even gamespy !! They could redistribute it. (don't make your website pump too munch bandwitch).
