title pretty much says it all. from the description harb = dps and proph = more tank oriented. what id really like to hear is something like "the harb is fine for 0.0 ratting" or perhaps "the harb is better than the proph for 0.0 ratting"
id like to hear some opinions. GO!

so i looked at the attributes for each, and it looksl ike the harb is just better in every respect. i guess i have my answer, unless anybody feels like elaborating.

if you have good skills tank becomes less and less relevant for belt ratting. so harb > Proph but if you have any prophs lieing around no one will use them anyway so you might take it ratting if you are not close to a good market to sell it... Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

Yeah you said it yourself, ship tiering almost always, if not always, favors the highest tier ship since it has more slots, fitting, HP.
I'd tell you use something with drones or missiles though, preferably an ishtar, cerb, sac. You may be able to make it an active tanked nossing vexor too, depends on the weight and faction of the rats. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

Even better, two vexors with ten damage bonused drones! About the same damage as two BCs and cheaper, faster and room for salvagers. ^__^ ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

so im playing around with eft, whats supposed to go in the middle slots? all i got so far is a mwd. what else should i put there(when i cant think of things to put in mid slots i usually put cap chargers.)
keep in mind this is for optimal rattage.

Cap rechargers are probably the best bet as your fit is going to somewhat powergrid heavy with a med rep, nos and MWD. Harden for their damage and maximise cap recharge, always stay moving and you'll mitigate the damage. You can use this site to evaluate their optimals. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Also I have used both for 0.0 ratting and the harb is fine for 0.0 ratting. The prophecy is better, easier and only takes a wee bit longer, but I fit a nice heavy missile to offset that.
Prophecy > Harbinger for pve for me.
edit: no reppers.. if you get someone else to tank then yes a harb is better, obviously, since it pushes out more damage

i'd go with the following
1 sar II 2 em hardener II 1 therm hardener II 2 heatsink II
1 10mn MWD II 3 cap recharger II
7 Heavy Pulse laser II (an multi) 1 small NOS II
5 hammerhead II
tank is sturdy enough for ratting to be honest and you kill pretty quick.

thats pretty interesting ill think about it. it is a little hard to believe though that a sar could keep up with like 2 battleship dps. but i guess if you kill them fast enough it wont matter.
is there any particular reason you went hammerheads instead of infiltrators? sanshas is extra weak to em dmg.
tbh id probably go with my fit just in case i get jumped by a pirate or something id have perhaps more of a chance. ____________________________________________________________________ mostly harmless |
