For those offering suggestions in this thread, they are better off in the Features & Ideas forum - here.
I suggest one person volunteers to put all the ideas together in as few threads as possible, preferably one - it will help the relevant devs.
A FAQ would be a great idea, work together on a list of questions and we'll link and answer them.

I think a problem with missions in particular is that they change quite frequently and the information collected by players in most sites are either out of date, not accurate or are missing a lot of missions. A problem with missions is if you are not prepared for the mission you go in and you don't know what kind of rats, how many or what surprises they come up with, you will often die.
The problem is there is no real complete resources and most are more unhelpful than helpful.
Is there any chance CCP will maintain some kind of worthwhile database on missions with some kind of way to get a basic idea of difficulty and type of opposition? Most of the most common asked questions about missions are frequently recurring because the resources are badly out of date.

Edited by: Granmethedon III on 29/10/2008 11:48:53 RE: Exploration
I'd love to see the site type be listed on the scanner report rather than just "deadspace signature"; this is especially significant when receiving a multispec list of several different sites. If the multi-spec can differentiate between a grav and an unknown, surely the grav specific probe will too.
Also, I think the loot tables for plexes need to be looked at; for instance I ran a couple of guristas fortresses the other day and received a Dread Tower BPC and Dread hardeners from the other; yet when running a 6/10 got nothing at all, and a Guristas Military Base again neither escalated or spawned a Dread.
I think considering the amount of time put in to exploration there should at least be a minimum and maximum level of loot comparative to the difficulty of finding the site, and of running it; the low end sites shouldn't really be worth more than the high end ones.

Fixing missioning is easy, stop writing chronicles and write missions that contain chronicles. More back story would greatly improve my interest in missions and make them less like horrible grinding I just want to macro through.
More multi-part missions, everyone thinks missions are too repetative. Particularily combat missions, because lets face it, no matter what couriering is always repetative.
More Complicated missions, clearing out deadspace is ok... chasing and harassing a group across several systems... more fun.
Quicker mission progression, WHY in a multi part mission do I have to return to the station to get the next. Why can't something suddenly come up that they 'need' me to take care of and it would be great if I would accept this mission 'extension' and complete it before returning to the station for an increased reward. Obviously with the option of declining the extension and returning for the normal reward.
Instead of go out do this come back, it could be go out do this... Oh crap now heres a surprise and a different type of enemy you didnt know was comming (unless you looked it up on the wiki or something)
If eve is about adapting and being prepared for lots of eventualities why do missions not reflect this?

if a exploration site has minable astroids in it, i want to be able to fly my hulk to it.. not have a warning come up saying the acceleration gate can take an Orca, but not a hulk, but i can put a hulk in a orca...
if a site has roids, you should be able to take barges in

I know I am posting to this thread a little late, but I wanted to make a comment on the missions guides and request for set ups.
Forgive me if I offend anyone, but the mission changing is a good thing. No guide out there should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do to complete a mission because every mission should be different.
In real world situations you should get reconnaissance from an agent such as enemy, location, terrain (meaning are there things that will prevent micro warp, or obstacles such as an asteroid belt), estimated force size, and an estimate of weapon and ships you would be up against and if your lucky an estimate of other forces in the area that may reinforce the enemy in the mission.
The biggest problem with missions is that they are the same.
My suggestion for future missions would be to make triggers different every time a mission runs. I find it funny how the enemies forces all stand around and watch their buddies die and donĘt attack until their group is attacked. I would like to see enemies enter the mission based off of spawn triggers. It adds a little more real world excitement into the game as there is no way they would sit around while their comrades are destroyed. In most cases there should be no way for us to know what will trigger the new spawn.
Making the missions less stagnent with a slight element of surprize each time they are run would make them more of a challenge and a lot more interesting.
One other rule change would be to put a few low quality LV5 agents in high sec. We should not be able to solo a LV5, but it would be nice to do a LV5 mission without getting attacked by Player Pirates.
If getting LV5's in high sec are not an option the payout on a LV5 needs to get looked at. Right now it is hardly worth the effort of getting a group of people together to run them due to the risk of getting attacked in the mission by player pirates. The player pirates should be calculated into the payout. Maybe it can work like a high risk bonus for running a mission in low sec.
To answer a previous post by another player----KNOW YOUR ENEMY!! The weaknesses and weapons of each faction are known and as long as your agent could tell you the enemy your up against you will know exactly what to fit your ship with for max protection and damage.
