Quote: 3rd party tools that utilize the client logs will no longer provide useful out-of-game intel. This change will not affect 3rd party programs who use the EVE API (EVEMon, EFT etc)

BACON (which uses the logserver as opposed to the API) no longer works (thank god).
Bye bye Hydra.

Edited by: Spurty on 11/06/2008 02:39:31 BACON just got SMOKED
Everything else, that is things like evemon and those character displaying websites and EFT, will work as usual.
Killboards are lagging behind the faction thing, but pretty much everything is as it should be.
EVEMON clearly needs patching also to accommodate 'FACTIONS' --

After every patch, the EVE API goes down. And generally (paraphrasing a Dev who posted somewhere) it comes back up after the next downtime. EVEMON, EFT etc. all use the API and subsequently won't work until (probably) after DT.
(and by goes down, i mean it's intentionally taken down until thorough testing is done to ensure the API backend stability)
As a previous poster said: You failed to read "EVE Backend Database Temporarily Disabled"

Roflcopter.. My point still stands.. They quote it isnt affected yet I'm unable to actually use it right this second! Your saying its not effected when it clearly is!
I think enough said, but patch notes writer might need some help next time writing the notes or at least clarify more clearly |

Edited by: Spurty on 11/06/2008 03:03:53 API and DB backend aside (as this is true for every large patch like this) There is nothing wrong with the patch notes; the procedure of patching however is not synchronized with 3rd partys as information as to what they need to change reaches them the same time you see it (i.e. they don't "appear" to be clued in any better than the average joe).
Expect to see new DB dumps as well soonish, shortly followed by a new version of EVEMON and everything else.
Only thing I care about is that BACON was put out of business. |

No this bit:
3rd party tools that utilize the client logs will no longer provide useful out-of-game intel. This change will not affect 3rd party programs who use the EVE API (EVEMon, EFT etc)
They had to take the whole server down for the day, theres no reason the API would continue to work and it was temporary after all.

Seriously, if that's not clear enough for you, I suggest this. Bye troll.
Oh, and by the way,
Quote: 3rd party tools that utilize the client logs will no longer provide useful out-of-game intel. This change will not affect 3rd party programs who use the EVE API (EVEMon, EFT etc)
EVEmon, EFT etc. DO NOT USE THE CLIENT LOGS. They use the API.

SorTrak, have you ever been in a room full of people and told a joke you thought was really funny but instead of laughing hysterically... or at all... everyone in the room just stares at you blankly because your delivery was somewhat lacking?

Almost every patch has messed with EveMon a little, and as usual, it's probably temporary. EveMonN and Eve Online will be on speaking terms again, I'm sure of it. --- Earning Isk Basic Skills |
