An old draft vid I made a while ago, as a tutorial for Pirate Newbies looking to make cash.
Ore Thief Vid (Evetube keyword shuttle).
In celebration of my glorious return after a short hiatus here is my gift to the Ore Thief community, (And missing the ISD Ore Thief story - darn!).
It is not easy being a professional Ore Thief, but one can make 30-60 mil per hour (note: typically not in a shuttle), which isn't bad for Empire. I have been doing it for a very long time and it is quite fun and profitable.
There are not many Ore Thief vid tutes out there, enjoy!

Nobody is jetcan mining and those that are take 30mins to find each, and stop once you steal 1mil worth of ore. |

Lots of folks jet-can mine. Im a little hesitant to put my AAA setup and technique up for fear of a CCP nerf to a nerfed profession (I know not likely but it is my bread and butter).
If anyone is truely interested in being a professional ore-thief evemail or convo me if you see me on. Ship and fittings are about 30 mil and I average 15-30 mil an hour consistently with the most being 60 mil in one hour. I think I did 100 mil in a hour once but I had some good ransoms. I have some FRAPS of my technique too.

Uhm, I see people jetcan mining day in day out and taking advantage of them. I tell newbies who want to do stuff differently to train for a hauler and go 'milk' miners every 30 minutes. It works and makes nice cash, even more for a starting player.
Btw, you could perfect your tactics a bit more if you wanted to, but then you're in a shuttle so why bother hehe. What music did you use btw?

meh, make 50 mil easy, get in in a celestis, can-flip, warp away at planet, wait for can to be retaken (or the hulk that is quite enough stupid to aggress you, that works too) and warp 20km from bookmark.
get a point on the barge/indy, fire up sensor dampeners, take it to 25% hull (or just begin breaching hull) and domand ransom. worked for me, but at last i forgot to return drones before they imploded the barge :(
(BTW, look for those who have hidden friends in the system, almost got my *** handed to myself by a damn stealth bomber...too bad he was close enough to be obliterated by my drones, poor him :( ) __________________________________________________ Not A Signature. Fit some sensor boosters to lock the cans quicker if you can. Prevents someone coming in an re-slipping your can so you can't tractor.
Personally I prefer to just warp in with an indy and take the stuff then warp out again. It's quicker and saves the hassle of warping out and switching ship. I find using a frigate to flip the can is useful in a group though and rapidly speeds up the process.
I liked the music too. Made me feel like I was watching a 70's cop show or something. Reminds me very much of music from the older GTA games :)

Do I make exactly 1 million ISK per hour or is it an average or will I sometimes end up with spells of getting nothing?
Also, if 30-60 mil per hour typically not in a shuttle, what can i expect to get and how does that affect the title of the thread since it states just that?
I know you're probably busy theiving, if you respond it should only take a couple of minutes. I'll probably throw you a couple of million to keep up your strike rate.

To Tzar'rim and Dosgar: Actually I made that background music with a couple sound loop riffs (wah wah and sax), custom drum midi and custom bassline using Slayer2 VSTi in FL Studio 8 (Music program).
To answer Simimski's questions:
Quote: Do I make exactly 1 million ISK per hour or is it an average or will I sometimes end up with spells of getting nothing?
Sure there will be dry spells if you can't find marks. Solution? Go to where there are alot of marks very close together. There is a couple areas area in Eve that is ideal for Ice for example.
Quote: Also, if 30-60 mil per hour typically not in a shuttle, what can i expect to get and how does that affect the title of the thread since it states just that?
Typically broke pirates are noobs. The purpose of this thread is to communicate to noobs (or anyone looking for fun isk-making really), that decent isk can be made either on the side or solo if you want a change of pace, or don't do missions (like me). Additionally, if one is interested in ore-thieving and enjoys it, I wanted to communicate that as a professional one can make decent cash in empire, so it doesn't really effect the title at all.
Quote: I know you're probably busy theiving, if you respond it should only take a couple of minutes. I'll probably throw you a couple of million to keep up your strike rate.
Sure! Please send me isk! I will put it to good use. Actually atm I am doing a "job" for an old friend. The neat thing about getting good at ore thieving is you really gain unique skills and experience to help friends do those delicate jobs that come up from time to time.

How to beat the ISK Farmers/Macro Miners
A.) Steal their ore for your own use. Time is against you when you are stealing ore, eventually these farmers will pack up and move out of the system. Hint: When I am stealing ore, I like to scan all the belts first to find out where they are and I write this information down on some paper. I warp into the belt, and head straight for the can. Zoom out and "look" at the belt icon. Lineup the belt icon and the farmers to find a planet or another belt to warp in from. This way the next time you return you are going to be a lot closer than just warping into the belt
B.) If there is too much or for you to take back in one trip eject your own container, rename to same name as the macro's container, then pop the farmers container. Now the farmer's hauler may come along and take the ore from your container, you and your corporation now have 15 minutes to attack the hauler ore thief. If they donĘt take from your container then you can grab the rest of the ore when you come back. |

Great comment Ace, yeah every once a while the miner may try to nip your new can, then blast em or ransom them. Nice additional money and/or T2 expanded cargos. *note* doesn't work well with a shuttle, in that case fit your badger as the Badger of Doom(tm) |

you can't steal mining like you used to do one year ago.
now, ppl learned that an iteron V at 200m from the can while you're mining is your best friend. same with ice, and secure containers: just drop in, industrail takes in, haul to station, repeat.
only one left is ransom to not suicide-gank him. nothing too hard, nor too simple. since this is a noob-aimed thread: the trick doesn't work that well anymore, try something else :| 10100110010100101010011010100101001100101110101001 I will Conquer My Signature Somewhere in the future 10100110010100101010011010100101001100101110101001 |

How to make assload of billions in one hour?
Go to 0.0 and loot Estamel wrecks with invul fields.
It should take 5 seconds max to loot one, so you should be getting about 12 invul fields per minute. If you sell them for a cheap price of 5 billion each, that is 60b isk/minute (3600b isk/hour).
Please keep this super moneymaking method secret, I don't want to see everybody flying in titans.

What I would suggest, is use 2 accounts, flip with the shuttle as shown, then bring in the hauler on a separate account. The hauler takes from the shuttle's can. This way, even if they wanted to shoot the hauler, they wouldn't be allowed to because the hauler has 'stolen' from the shuttle, not the miner, and as such, won't be flagged to the miner's corp. Much safer and more profitable this way.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Give that man a Fuzzy Blunderbunny we have a winner! You are quite correct Savage and this is a more efficient and (quite a bit safer) technique.
(If I would have posted that then folks would say: "but what about us who don't have/can't afford two accounts, etc etc.)

One can flip a can with an Iteron V at 200m away in a T1 Frig, just as one can flip a can while being tractored. Just takes some ingenuity, timing, and practice. Once you master that, you will be quite ready to fly other rigs.

friend had a ore thief drop in on him over weekend. guy was can flipping in a zealot then smacking a bit because hulk pilot wouldnt flip can back.
If your going down this dark path...I recommend using a bit less firepower as your initial can flip...or dont expect miner to be stupid enough to attack.

Great point and that is right on Iron. Plus you hit on what really is and is not an Ore Thief.
What an Ore Thief IS NOT: A ganker - someone who flips a can hoping the mark will flip it back so you can gank him. The Zealot that IronPants is describing is most definately NOT an Ore Thief; just a simple smack-talking ganker wanna-be.
What an Ore Thief IS: An Ore Thief steals ore, ransoms for money, or exthorts money. Bottom line is money is the primary motivation - not ganking.
I've had alot of folks convo me this week. The first question I ask them is do you want to gank, or to thief. The reason I ask that is because ganking and thieving use two completely different mindsets, and techniques.
If you go in wanting to thief with a gank mindset you will not be sucessful, and one of two things will happen:
1. You will get wtfpwned and lose your ship and have less money than before, or 2. You will simply be ignored, since you do not have the skills to succesfully steal from someone.

i, for one, would like to ransom the miner not for the ore (wich, most times is not valuable unless ice) but for the ship.
i also have difficulties in can-flipping users mining ice, since the lag created in the belt by the absurd and most time ridiculous number of barges and exhumer mining the belt. 10100110010100101010011010100101001100101110101001 I will Conquer My Signature Somewhere in the future 10100110010100101010011010100101001100101110101001 |
