If a corp joins a faction does it come up as being a members of the Caldari State or Amarr empire .... etc?

They should appear as members of that Factions Militia:
Amarr - 24th Imperial Crusade
Caldari - State Protectorate
Gallente - Federal Defence Union
Minmatar - Tribal Liberation Force

Amarr - 24th Imperial Crusade
Caldari - State Protectorate
Gallente - Federal Defence Union
Minmatar - Tribal Liberation Force

Absolutely not the case.
Think of the Militas in much the same way an Alliance operates. Individual Corporations can join the Alliance/Milita and maintain their own identity yet still fight under the one banner.
The major difference with the Militias and Alliances is that solo players may join the Militia but not an Alliance.
