My current Mp3 player seems to have packed in.. so i have decided to treat myself to a new one! Hurray..
My current model is a 8gb Zen V+ and my inital reaction is to go for one of these Zen
Any other suggestions? I dont think ill be buying an Ipod any time soon since i cannot stand itunes and im not fond of the design of the traditional ones (Considered itouch.. but im not sure wether id use it)
Need to decide by 8pm today! (Thats gmt+1)

Edited by: NightmareX on 11/06/2008 16:56:05 The peoples that have problems with iTunes must be strange in some ways, because iTunes for me is the easiest music program that i have EVER been using in my entire life.
It's sooooooooooo easy to use. Even my grandmother that is 80+ years old could use it with no problems.
And about the mp3 player. If you want the best mp3 player that is made ever, then go for the iPod Touch. You cannot find any better mp3 players out now.
Well ofc, when i talk about iPod Touch, it owns every other mp3 players when the iPod Touch is jailbreaked.
But hey, it's easy to jailbreak an iPod Touch. It's just some few clicks and your ready to go.
EDIT: By thinking on it, Creative as a corporation is the biggest joke ever, they are the most careless company ever that doesn't cares about their customers, so i would evade them at all costs.
I'll guess you have seen the case with the Creative Soundcards and their drivers for Windows Vista?

Ive been using creative Mp3 players since ive started listening to music, absoloutley fine as far as i know...
My friend has an ipod touch, jailbreaked as you say.. fair enough ive seen everything it can do.. but i really just want something to play music and videos while i am going for walks or revising etc.. not all singing all dancing machine and in any case its about ú120 more expensive than the zen, is it really work that much considering i might never even use a large portion of the features (i dont even have that much ú100 max really).
MY dislike of itunes has nothing to do with useability, astheticly? dont like it drm? dont like it and i have no need for the music purchasing capabilities it provides.

Tbh the Archos models are the best portable media players out atm. The Ipod Touch is nice but its hardware with a glass jaw. Drop it and you've got no backup buttons if the screen breaks.
And itunes may be easy, but its the most 3rd-Reich media-management program you could ever install on your computer. Blocking you from using your own music in anything other than Itunes? What happens when apple get a ****load of money from an ad company, and they stick ads all over Itunes and bam, you're stuck with VIAGRA, ONLY 99c adverts all over your media application.
Plus, quicktime is a load of balls. 族---族

I concur with lofty (i was looking at archos but they seem to be rather large and somehwhat more expensive than my price range will allow)

Much as I agree with you, did Godwin sneak in a bit there? __________________________

Think im going to stick with my origional descision.. Itouch? too epxnsive and fragile.. especially as i have a tendancy to drop things.. (also suckage itunemania)
Archos? too expensive unfortunatley and too big for my liking..
So Zen seems like the only viable option for music listenage with some video awesomeness? (Also being credit card sized is awesome)

Creative Zen (just zen) is FTW. iPods, except for the touch, aren't really that great.and yes itunes - thankfully with the zen all you have to do is drag and drop in explorer (you need to have WMP10 or WMP11 installed though but not need to use it) |

The zen is good, buy it.
Just don't stick it in the same pocket as your keys, or you will scratch the screen .
Also, the iPod Touch is not an mp3 player. It's the same as today's smartphones - they are not really phones anymore.
iPod Touch is just a slightly crippled PDA, and is in the PDA price range.

Edited by: pwnedgato on 11/06/2008 20:14:03 I carry around about 20 gb of music all the time. Not to mention the half dozen movies and other random videos I carry about. The Ipod Touch just seems silly when I think about it. Also yes, screw Itunes, quicktime, Steve Jobs and the apple culture he seems to so eager to shove down our throats... bloody latte sipping, using-the-laptop-in-hotspot-to-write-their-screenplay-that-they-just-know-will-be-accepted-and-help-the-masses-understand-how-wrong-they-are idiots.
P.S. lol at apple stock falling just because Steve Jobs wasn't entertaining at his yearly big show. |

Love my Ipod touch, bring it everywhere, use it for everything, only starts to come alive once you jailbreak it... had the Archos and Ipod touch is just much much better imo.
Also Itunes is kick ass, by far the easiest and most hassel free way to manage my music, movies etc

Edited by: Kravick Drasari on 12/06/2008 09:45:43 Edited by: Kravick Drasari on 12/06/2008 09:44:21 I refuse to use any Apple product any more. Not because they're bad products, no, "most" do whats required of them. I refuse to use Apple products because of those asshat commercials Steve Jobs keeps putting on TV. They have the opposite effect for some people. Rather than drawing customers its pushing some away. I also don't like how Steve Jobs forces things on you with his products.
Mac breaks down? Gotta take it to a certified "Mac" dealer who charges 3x more than a PC shop.
Need to upgrade your Mac? You're only allowed to use "certified" Mac parts regardless of the fact they use the same parts as PC computers. They also cost 3x as much.
Want to use the iPhone? Sorry, you're only allowed to use certain carriers and they love raping you on the price as a result. Same goes for the new iPhone thats coming out. If you force the iPhone to use another carrier it disables certain functionalities within the phone.
Want to use iTunes? Sorry, you're not allowed to use similar programs if you install it. Also feels like its taking over your computer.

If the program is so good that I don't want to use another like it, fine. But once a program starts overriding my ability to use any other program on my computer, even if its not as good, it needs to GTFOff my hard drive. |
