I'd like to bring to attention macro traders. I've submited petition so i'll just copy/paste it here. GM didn't answer if CCP have tools to track down macro traders so i'd like to know.
I've tracked that Kmora Tar is a macro trader.
He was selling Social Adaptation Chip - Basic and every 50 minutes when there would be a lower sell order he would set his order at 0.01 isk less.
I was trying to provoke a mistake: His order was 7.678.999.97 isk and i've set mine to 7.678.899.96 isk but then after 50 mins he set his to 7.678.899.95 isk. Did that few times but he set his order 0.01 isk below mine every time.
Then i've bought his implant and found out who the seller is.
My second method of making sure if he's macro user was: i've traded him T2 blueprint but he didnt accept, nor he did accept my conversation invite.
There are more traders in jita that are behaving not human-like and they give us non macro traders a hard time but i cba to test them especialy when i dont know if CCP would take any appropriate actions.

Sometimes I start thinking that my trade competition is a bunch of macroers because when I undercut them a couple hours after they set a price, they undercut me immediately which happens nearly every time.
If they aren't macroers, you'd think they would stop staring at the one order 3 hours after they set it up. __________________________________________________

Try selling one chip at 0.01 ISK above the highest buy order and see if he's going to sell all his chips to that buy order. If yes, you have successfully eliminated a business rival. -------- Ideas for: Mining Vote |

Sell your stuff in NC, Perimeter, etc instead. I would gladly buy it for .01 ISK more there just to not go to Jita
Anything else of his on the market? Previous sales records? More information == more likely you MIGHT get a CCP response ... I wouldn't hold my breathe though.

Not it isn't, people should be encouraged to get out in low sec space, but never forced to do so.

It's not because he refuses to react with you, that he is a Macro, although the T2 BPO is rather weird... I am a macro, please do that with me  Disallowed sig graphic. Send an e-mail to [email protected] when it meets the forum signature guidelines. ~Saint |

Hey - I've got tons of stuff I'd like to undercut you by 0.1 isk if you'll buy it to find out who I am!

Better yet....
When BUYING stuff, use this trick to make sellers drop their price.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

I think he was selling all the "- basic" implants, didn't bother to check other implants. I've got response, he thanked me to bringing this to attention and assured that appropriate actions will be taken. |

It was BPC but the normal reaction would be that he would accept the trade immediately, not checking if its BPO or BPC, wouldn't it. |

Or he may have been suspicious that it was some kind of setup or new exploit. Remember that important Eve rule... "don't trust anyone." People doing strange things right after a major patch often times can mean someone knows something you don't and you're about to get owned. |

tbh, when i was really into trading i used to dump the market order data to a file and have a perl script make sure i was doing ok was far as bidding / underbidding
it was still too much work though which is why i'm running missions for most my isk again. i'm not entirely sure that's possible to write a macro to fully automate the trading process
could be a really really bored human that doesn't like interacting with others, like an isk farmer. doubt it's a macro, but who knows. OCR is improving. |

Yes, the ISK farmers have long discovered that they can make ISK sitting docked. This way they avoid being suicide ganked and baited, they don't have to deal with players hunting them down in low sec, 0.0, loot and salvage thieves, and in addition they can keep out of sight so no one writes petitions about their activities hence no GM attention is directed at them. The implant market has been long rigged.
CCP peeps have asked multiple times for players to keep petitioning any macros they find. I am assuming they keep track of them until the time the macro tries to sell ISK at which point they can pwn the ISK buyers and the macro itself.

Fail. What witch hunt? The guy found someone that is blatantly macroing. Come on, I have a trading alt. I don't sit there refreshing the market every 5 seconds to undercut by .1 isk.
I'm lucky if I check my prices the next day. Macros are bad, isk farmers are bad....

To the OP: You have in fact not identified a macro trader, and I personally don't think they exist. I trade a lot in Jita, and I am more than happy to immediately undercut the competition 0.01 isk on their price acros as much as 10 items I am selling at any one time - again - and again - and again. Reason? Eventually they give up and quit, and I reap the monopoly profits (more or less). I tell you though - if you thought 0.0 PVP was tough, it's nothing compared to 0.01 PVP |

Edited by: Le Skunk on 13/06/2008 01:25:52 His contracts seem pretty normal trading - no real pointing to an isk farmer.
This does not mean he is not using a macro though I have never heard of market macros, only mining and ratting ones.

That's exactly why I don't bother with market trading anymore. I just don't have the patience to redo market contracts when I find out someone's undercut me by 1 isk. There are more lucrative ways to make money in this game which aren't time consuming or require as much attention to detail. ___________________________________________________

If it is a macro, I would sell one basic implant for 1.1 isk to see if he undercuts. If he does, cancel your sell order and quickly buy all the implants he's selling
If it works, you suddenly gain lots of isk worth of implnats. If not, then basic implants are dirt cheap anyway.
@ Le Skunk. You evidently weren't around when the escrow system was operating prior to the contracts system. Macros were operating to snap up 0 isk public escrows within a second or two of them being put up.

QFT, I have no problem sitting in Jita for 3-4 hours running buy and sell orders under cutting or over cutting for 0.01 isk. When the volume is right on just about any item you can make incredible amounts of isk. Why WOULDN'T I sit in jita for hours on end? Its an empire building game right? So you guys go out and do all the grunt work. And I reap all the rewards sitting in jita buying and selling your sweat blood and tears for 0.01 isk better than the other guy. And you think pvp people are cruel? haha! |
