Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.

Could be a connection issue between you and the EVE cluster. Restarting the client should fix this, if not clear your cache.
Cache locations:
2000/XP C:\documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\client_folder_location Vista C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\client_folder_location

I made it back in to the game now buy disabling my Windows Firewall and using the one from Norton. No idea why that solved the problem but maybe it has something to do with the running processes i disabled like 3 weeks ago.
So in short words... Check if you got a second firewall on your PC that isnt running correctly... disable windows firewall and just use the one from virus scan.

Are you all on the same ISP?
Whenever I see a group of people in the same "connection trouble" thread it turns out that they all use the same ISP and they are having "connection trouble".

If you've already cleared your cache try the following:
* Disable all firewall/NAT/windows defender * Disable all anti-virus (yes, these sometimes kill your connection) * Try using a different port to connect: here's how * Run Trace route to TQ (command prompt -> "/tracetr 87.237.38.200"). Look for high ping times or dropped packets ("*") that would indicate a problem in your connection. ____________________________ I break things.

I doubt it's the ISP. I've been having the same connection problems, but it's never consistent with my internet connection. In the past week, I've experienced:
-EVE works fine, but other programs requiring the internet (IE, Rhapsody) can't connect -EVE won't let me stay on for more than a minute at a time, and even rebooting has limited results -I can't get EVE to connect at all, but IE and Firefox work fine
Also, my internet connection is usually very reliable, and it only gets wonky when EVE get's involved. I'd think that if it was the ISP, everything would be busted or everything would work. It's definitely something at CCP's end.

This sounds a lot like you're hitting a simultaneous connections limit. Some (a lot of) home routers aren't very well made, and need to be rebooted every few days to function properly. Most of them fill their connections tables with long-dead connections, slowing the router down as it matches data against them, and sometimes causing them to refuse or silently ignore new connections because the table is full.
I had a Belkin router that needed to be rebooted every ~12 hours because it would do this.
Try rebooting your router.

I hear what you're saying, and I'll admit I'm confused with some of what you explained, but I'm inclined to disagree that it's a problem with anything on my end. Simply put, my internet connection works, and has worked, perfectly in the past. Surfing websites, running my online music service, playing other MMOs, multitasking any combination of the above items...
This is the first time since I've gotten wireless that anything has given me this kind of trouble, and it only occurs while I'm running (or as of late, trying to run) EVE. To top it off, I was playing a two-week trial period of EVE just before the expansion, with the exact same routers and ISP, and had zero trouble whatsoever. Now that I've looked through this forum, I see other people with this problem, many of them not only saying that it only happens with EVE, but that it's only been a problem since the expansion.
Given all of that, I'm strongly inclined to believe it's somehow related to the expansion data. I mean, how could I think otherwise?

Its clear as glass that its not a problem on our end. After reading the forums and doing 2 complete reinstalls myself, its clear its the new patch. Even though I have removed the patch, I still can not get the log in screen to open. I am not alone in this issue. The one time I did get it to open, the client was so laggy that game play was impossible. Then it DC'd me completely and back to not getting the log in screen to open. Its as clear as the nose on your face CCP that you messed up yet again. Just how long are we to wait for a fix? Seems the answer would be to roll back this patch for the refineing window fix. Its clearly affected the game in a very bad way. This space reserved for something witty..... |

Major issues with D/cing
in the last 15 to 20 minutes alone, I've been kicked from the server with the message that the connection was lost, of sometimes even when I've trying to log back into the server.

Kicked repeatedly after installing the patch. Did a fresh install of eve after uninstalling. All firewalls/anti-virus disabled long enough to confirm it still crashed. Only started happening after the patch was released. To many people to varied in location for it to be all of our computers going bad at once, CCP.
BTW, having someone in an official capacity tell a user to disable their firewall/anti-virus software to play a game is a BAD idea.
