Am I the only one that didn't get a warning about server downtime?

ROFLMAO the server has gone down every day at the exact same time for over a year now, and you still need a warning? ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

I'm not complaining about downtime, but I was expecting confirmation that it was going ahead... you know the whole "See you in one hour" post ingame.
EULA or no EULA, just dropping the server is a bit rude.

It felt so impersonal today Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

They've never missed a DT yet, don't think they ever will. The warnings are done by a GM though AFAIK and they are human and all that, it happens. Just rest assured it WILL go down at 11GMT every day. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Okay okay... flames aside... is it usual for the server to go down without a warning message?
I only ask because I'm only on my 4th day play.. hence I have no idea

The server *always* goes down at 11am GMT, give or take a minute or two. There is *almost* always a series of warnings that this is about to happen - in one hour, in thirty minutes, in ten minutes, and goodbye-see-you-in-an-hour. But those warning have to be activated manually by a GM, so if there are no GMs online, or if they forget .. we don't get warned.
The downtime is automated, as far as I can tell, and it WILL happen. So if you tend to play in the morning (GMT time), you just need to keep an eye on the clock and log out just before 11am.
Hope that helps

I'm a new player too, I knew it goes down at 11:00-12:00 GMT but forgot. Luckily someone in my corp mentioned it a few mins before so I quickly started training a skill that would take over an hour |

well... im not complaining, just when playing eve, i often forget time so i got booted to reality rather uncomfortable
on a sidenote, that signature wasnt aimed at anyone specifically, i still have it in from last patchday when everyone was crying bloody murder and when some people raised the lunatic idea they can demand from CCP something in return for the interuption of playing experience cause of the unscheduled reboots and downtimes...

Today, as every day, I lost a ship. 365 days now, and every day I've been thinking "today will be the day without downtime". But somehow there's been a downtime each day, like it says when I log in.

My only complaint about downtimes is the 'countdown' when they are doing a forced reboot.
Msg 1: We will be yadda yadda rebooting in 20 minutes.
(2 minutes later........)
Msg 2: We will be yadda yadda rebooting in 10 minutes.
(30 seconds later)
Msg 3: We will be yadda yadda rebooting in 5 minutes.
(I always take that as my one minute warning.
This doesn't upset me, by the way... I find it quite amusing, and always make for the nearest station when the first warning goes out whenever possible.... but I do have one question....
Are the CCP offices located 'underhill' where time runs slightly differently from the real world?
