Am I the only poor bastard with a horrible string of bad luck? i'm getting 20-30% on modules with 4's in the skills (should be 50%).

How many have you done? If you say less than a thousand then statistically you do not have a large enough sample group for it to mean anything.
If you were just venting then carry on. |

today i also had very bad luck - 6 runs (Modules) and only 1 was doing well - lvl 5 and lvl 4 skills.... i hope its not the new EvE release? |

After every patch people think something has gone screwy with invention. Every single patch. Sometimes after full moons. Once a guy had pizza for lunch instead of chicken and accused it of altering invention.
CCP has stated that they will tell us if they change invention. If you think they are liars then why are you giving them your money?
A while back there was questioning of the random number generator. A dev popped in and said bring me numbers to back up the claim and I will make it my personal crusade to have it fixed. Many numbers, 6 figures worth I think, were generated via shooting. Much arguing was done over the numbers. Final result was that the rng is fine.
If something has a 60% chance of succeeding that doesn't mean you will succeed at it 60% of the time. That's how random works.

I think I'm getting all your luck. I have a 80% success rate so far with only lvl4 skills.

well, its just strange... after i got my lvl 5 skill - success rate droped from 6:4 to 6:1. After about 3 runs i got my old number back. The same happend after the Patch was released - success rate droped down to 6:1 or 6:2 and after about 4 set i got back the old numbers. "Random does not have a memory" - but thats just strange.

You need to do 100 runs before you get close to your success rate. I've invented 100's of drone bp's and sometimes I get 1 in 5 and other times I get 4 in 5. Statistically, that's about where I expect to be.
I don't know why this is such a constant issue on these boards. You aren't going to get 60% success rate (or whatever) every set of runs. Only over time will you see that. It's pretty simple to understand how it works. Someone should make a sticky explaining this and how statistics works.

All with Meta 1 based items. No decrypt. Skills at 5/5/4 (last skill is on 5 too since a few days)
ATM, i have 100 inventions left.
Current Sucess ratio is 49,21% (counting all 760 inventions. So it will increase a bit more until the remaining 100 are done), which is Exactly where i expected it, currently. (expecting an overall sucsess ration of 57% - 60%)
Yes there where times when i had 8 out of 10, and times (like now) where i have only 2-4 out of 10.
Overall it will balance itself very good.
The only thing i noticed recently is an Increase in ship inventions sucess. Had 60 ship inventions and 36!!! where sucsessfull (using the x1 chance decryptor).. could be luck.. but i¦ll see on teh next 60 ship inventions ^^

I am 'pretty sure' they don't improve chances. And I'm 100% sure that if they did it isn't enough to justify using one in all but the very cheapest of cases. Because the observable effect is non existant if an effect did exist it wouldn't be enough to be worth doing.

I want to cry out that they broke invention too, but im holding off untill I have 100 runs to compare to. All I can say is that im getting 20-30% right now, and 2 weeks ago I was at 70-80%....
