So i tryed AoC out and tbh yeah it looks great, the gore is great but if im honest the endless questiong really bores me to tears, just like everquest 2 did.
Now i have never played wow before so i don't know much on that, but from ppl i have spoke to who have played wow they say AoC is just a shinny version of that.
Whats your thoughts (those who have played both ofc?)

Not worth buying atm, as unfinished as it is, to repeat myself ITT. Hope it gets better and wait a few months, buy/re-sub then (I cancelled my sub, too).
And before I call the nerdrage of the fanbois down upon me, it IS a lot more unfinished than is usual for MMOs at launch, there's no denying that.

Every time I read the word "instance" or "instancing" I'm glad there's CCP.
They're the only MMOG developers that I know of who actually try to push the technology to the limits in an effort to deliver a true MMOG experience. [/fanboy] |

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned EVE is the only MMORPG. All the others are single player games capable of multiplayer...with elves.

AoC has so much potential, but the mechanics and content are half-finished. The combat system could have been made much more interesting and generally they need to work on the game for another year before they released it.
I love the quests personally; our group of 6 had some epic fights in the elite quests. For instance, we had a 5-7 minute long intense battle against the Ymirsh Bearlock boss. He froze us, scared us and was generally kicking our butts. He (and other aggroed mobs) managed to kill off more than half of our group , but the few remaining people who survived were able to kill him and finish the quest.
Also, they should make the animations/movements of the characters less WoW-ish, but the textures and colors are great. The poly count could be improved for the environment. |

Indeed EVE is the only MMO where the term Massively multiplayer online comes to its right. The other mmos servers go total *******s with just 50 players close by. It takes so much more with EVE

That's cause in Eve you have so much less to deal with in terms of graphics. There's no landscape, there's no animations really. The effects are bland.
All you have is some fairly static ships that take no damage, with no real graphic queues as the action takes place. There's some fire that pops out, and some beams that shoot across. And that's it.
Other games have complex animations, and in the case of AoC higher poly count, detailed textures, distance views of the landscape. Alot more to worry about in those terms.
Also when you go over a certain number in eve you're just looking at boxes moving on the screen and playing with a spreadsheet.
Eve does try it's best to be Massive, but even that's not that massive.
So you really can't compare the 2. Don't you think all games wish they could just run 1 instance, and have 1000s of people on a node with no lag client or server side?
MMO designers try their best with current hardware and bandwith to create an illusion of massive. But in the end it's all an illusion, and it's not really massive. Even Eve, Jita lags to hell with like 250-400 people in it.
Anyway, not trying to be critical of eve but trying to speak to the other side of the arguement. |

as far as AoC I think the game should have been more divergent than it turned out to be. It's really more of the same with a bit of a different combat system. I like the combat system overall but feel it should have been even more action based. Like real interact blocking, it's just setup as a series of skills like all the other fantasy mmos. With all melee attacks being cone attacks.
It should have played more like Mount & Blade/Oblivion. And less like other MMOs.
