Memory channel architecture on Alpha servers coupled with TruCluster did exactly what CCP is trying to do with Infiniband and custom code. Just it was application transparent. No matter how good they work on custom code, the bottleneck will still be MS SQL as the backend and Windows as such. There are no Enterprise features in Windows to speak about. There are already SSI solutions working on Linux and other OSs (f.e. MOSIX). They can even work over Ethernet (nobody says TCP, using TCP for cluster comms is stupidity in the case of SSI systems). CCP are simply patching Windows deficiencies via HW upgrades. However it will be fun to see their SSI implementation actualy work. EDIT: Oh yeah, and a more functional client UI would be handy.
