Edited by: Tablaren on 13/06/2008 12:48:13 Amarr be praised!
We have a new Empress, today the heirs have named Jamyl Sarum as the preferred heir to the throne and waived their own rights to claim.
Blessed be the living saint!
A new Empress, with a strong zeal and cunning mind may now step forth to lead her great people and the galaxy with her great tenacity and skill.
Bless the heirs who have waived the right to the throne in such a amazing display of selfless sacrifice and service for the people.

Jamyl 'The Zombie' Sarum seems to be the new shooting star in the Empire...
whatever the heirs do and wish for though has still to be double and triple checked by the appropriate authorities.
As long as the only information we have is her mysterious reapearance and now some heir statement, i will not make up my mind but keep it open so i do not miss His truth if He wishes to bless me. For now and in my eyes Jamyl is a traitor who should be in a coffin not on the throne or anywhere near it! |

Hmpf, the authorities.
I would not have even thought of someone giving the heirs on such an issue a thought instead of unswerving loyalty.
I can not comprehend that would be refused. |

But Ethidium old chap, you should all be in coffins so it seems harsh to quibble over just one person.
that said, as the Emperor has always been seen as a loving incarnation of your god, does this mean your God will now be a woman? OR is it a male god in female form? Transgender gods?

ah! your lack of understanding not only amuses me but also shows me that our benevolent-force-enlightenment (project name: slavery) is really needed!
not so much a physical incarnation as a spiritual one! His light is with all who believe but only the emperor will be guided by His will and is allowed to speak in His name.

She was supposed to be dead, is magicaly returned even though the laws of the empire says otherwise, and now, she's voted for Empress.
Anyone else see a pattern here? All of a sudden a person with no power whatsoever returns and is soon voted for supreme power in the Empire.
Reminds me of a spesific factory worker that climed to be dictator of the State in less than 2 months, and who is now in total control.
If Sarum becomes the empress, then we will have two hastily elected people in complete control of two of the four empires.
Midular is gone, the republic is leaderless and in chaos.
What's next? The president is assassinated and hastily replaced by, say, another random, once-of-low-status/once-though-dead person?
I see a plot developing here, it's just to convenient for her to just randomly appear and save the day from another random faction's sudden appearance, one that halted CONCORD and invaded the empire to start a war.
I wonder who will benefit the most from all of us killing each other.

They were awfully quick to back her up, weren't they? And oddly, I don't know, muted about it. That announcement felt like something written from a script someone else drew up...like someone threatened to blow up their planets with a superweapon unless they supported her, or something. |

The five Heirs. The five most influential Amarrians alive. The five of which one will rise and lead us as Emperor. The five whos inability to agree on anything has left us without an Emperor for these years.
And now they step back, foraske the Divinity that could be theirs and as one agree that another should be Emperor.
They say one who defied Imperial Edict and Divine Will, one who failed to be Emperor, one who failed to die with honour should be the greatest amongst us?
Without excuse or reason?
So they do not have to explain her failure? So they do not have to admit her desecrated clone flesh?
HYPOCRISY!!!!
Some dark shadow is passing over our race in this time. The shadow that brought us war disguised as our enemies now brings us leadership disguised as our ally.
What terrible grip does it have on our greatest should they give up their destiny like this?
Do not embrace this dark manipualtion. To do so you discard your principles and your faith.
Stand proud as one race and challenge this outsider. Demand she answer for her shame and failure.
Other races are now lost to internal strife and decadence. We shall not be next.
Do what is right... keep the Faith and Word alive.

* He watches the monitor light up about how Sarum will more than likely take over as empress and he started to chuckle. He shook his head slowly. *
I called this one years ago, when Sarum refused to kill herself as part of the foolish ritual. I knew this day would come and I smile darkly at this. Proof that your God is nothing more than another Dead God.
Proof more that the Amarr are lead by a Demon and a Tyrant than a god. Let their hypocrisy shine though their darkness. The Amarr leadership doesn't even follow its own religion.
Sarum will fall just as the last one did, by the hands of an assassin!

Hardly! There is a process for deciding emperor.
And there are five houses each with an heir. I would suggest there are actually six, since Lady Sarum represents a living heir that survived Imperial succession, the House of Khanid is worthy of consideration and the trials.
Personally I would like to see King Khanid II as the next emperor. Anyone who says that Lady Sarum is a shoe in for empress, or that Lady Sarum should be treated differently than King Khanid was for surviving Shathol'syn obviously is a hypocrite.
Furthermore no one heir is guaranteed to become emperor. We have a process. It is called Shathol'syn.

This is most inappropriate. Trials are the way for God to decide who is Emperor, and as such should not be up for the Heirs to avoid. Are they not pure in the eyes of God? It is their duty to face each other in trials and for four of them to commit Shak'tol Syn. As simple as that. Humans cannot avoid the decision of God by agreeing themselves, this is no Gallente democracy.
Specially given the... peculiar... stance Lady Sarum is in right now.
Let's hope the Theology Council considers this all and places everything in its propper place.

We've gone from sqabbling over Khanid II's avoidance of death, to tolerating Lady's Sarum's avoidance of it; pretending no parallel exists with Khanid II - to declaring Lady Sarum Empress and no heir has in fact died - all have avoided death, including the Empress!
I completely agree that the heir's can not simply forego the process and declare with consensus the Lady Empress (apparently ignoring all tradition). I've also argued that Khanid must be brought back in as a 6th heir for consideration (whether he is successful or not) given the circumstances.
Wow!

All hail the new Empress! Screw all of those silly and unimportant religious rules she's violated; who cares about what "god" says about how these things should run, eh? The Empire has more important things to worry about than outdated religious tradition, let's just get things moving so we can finally say things like "the empress wills it" when someone questions things the Empire does!

With all due respect, Lady Serpentine: Watch your TONGUE.
I am not advocating that Lady Sarum be immediately installed as Empress, and I do believe that she has alot to answer for, as well.
But for you to immediately accuse the Four Heirs, your BETTERS, of hypocrisy shows a lack of respect and decorum that all Amarrians should have to those above their station. You are a mere pod pilot, such as I. Most likely you are damned cloned flesh, such as I.
At this point we are not SURE that lady Sarum is a clone as well, but we must WAIT until all the facts are revealed and our Theology Council has ruled on this.
In the meantime, I urge all loyal Amarrians to wait until the truth is revealed in its entirety before they pass judgement.

Edited by: Veron Daerth on 13/06/2008 19:44:41 Edited by: Veron Daerth on 13/06/2008 19:43:14 Lord Jove raises a good point. If the Heirs, and presumably the Theology Council, are willing to ignore the little show she put on for us when Doriam ascended the Throne, then why is Khanid II not being considered.
I have said it before and will say it again, Khanid did not lie or slink like a cur from the field to hide in the bushes until he could make another attempt at the Throne. He stood forth and declared his intentions before Man and God. Since that time, he has survived and his Kingdom prospered (arguably prospered more than the Empire as a whole) God obviously favors him. He would, in my opinion, make a better Emperor than Lady Sarum.
I can trust a man that tells me I am wrong to my face and is willing to show me the errors of my ways, even if its by force. I cannot trust someone who sneaks away like a thief in the night to await a better day. Especially when that person takes advantage of my faith and sets herself up as a martyr by staging a little dog-and-pony show with some of her House Navy Forces to make it look like she has solemnly accepted her Fate and died like a Failed Heir traditionally should.
If she disagreed with the process by which an Emperor is selected and the suicide ceremony, she should have done what Khanid did. State your reasons and make your stand, if God favors you, you will emerge triumphant. Make plans for this by all means, but do it before Man and God, in the Light of His wisdom. Do not use smoke and mirrors to cloak your intentions to avoid your fate and then fade away into the darkness like an assassin.
Let me be clear, I am loyal TO GOD AND THE EMPIRE, but I have come to the conclusion that however blessed they may be, the Heirs are mortal, and therefore flawed and capable of all the vices and mistakes that we are. If you look at it that way, you MUST see that you CANNOT trust Lady Sarum any more than you could trust a crooked slaver or a con artist.
I beg of you, my brothers and sisters, for the love of the Empire, think about this. Meditate upon it in the silence of your sanctums and Chapels. Ask yourself this one question, if Lady Sarum were not Heir, or noble, or even particularly powerful or wealthy, but a peer of yours, would you trust her with all of your worldly possessions? Would you give all of them to her in trust, then leave for .. say.. a year-long pilgrimage, and expect them to be there when you return?
I say that, based upon what she has demonstrated in the past, the answer is no, and if I cannot trust her with my life and livelihood, then I cannot trust her as Empress, because the Empress WILL hold my life and livelihood in her hands.

If nothing else Lady Sarum deserves some polite dignity in reference to her.
Perhaps I suffer from less confusion as I know she is my better in the social order of the Empire. It is of course the providence of all to think their own thoughts and many may even speak them, but being of a smug wit towards Sarum is beneath your station.
Of course I am biased, Lady Sarum has always been the focus by which those I serve have aimed their Reclaiming efforts. Aegis Militia has served Sarum first from day one at the very founding of UQS.
