Just an idea but.......
We all buy and fly various ships once we get playing. The all have the race insignia or marking.
What about applying the corp insignia on the ships as well so that not only do the ships fly the race insignia but also the corp insignia.
Or better yet.......a full ship skin so that someone could "paint" their own ships. Personally with the racin league developing..........Be really cool if you paint a racing frigate.
I'd like to see the pilot of the ship corp's insignia or even if they made the ship corp insignia with options for edit like they did with the original corp insignia when creating a corp.
What you guys think?

yeah nice but as i said on a simmelar thread it would cause to much lag loading a million new skinns :(

the code for this is already in the game, but the load-time problem concerns the Devs.
it has been suggested that the skins for ships be generated by a "paint by number" scheme, where all your client loads is a small set of numbers that define what choices the ship owner made when decorating his ship. these choices would then corespond to available settings, all already part of the client.
each panel or portion of the ship could be set to take on specific hues or patterns, of which there would be many available, allowing a very detailed customization with very little in the way of server load. |

Yes. As most of the people, myself included, would be more than satisified with just some color changes.(Don't forget strobe light colors!)
Dunno about the server load for corp logos, but that would be VERY nice.

This is one of the most disapointing things about EVE, conmmming from Earth and Beyond. IN E&B you can make you ship any color you want. It works on a similay theroy ther are no server side textures or enything, its all client loaded. I was great. It makes for a feeling pof personalization in the game.

Corp logos and changing paint would be great.. Not total custom paint jobs...
It can be done wiht minimal server load, but just storing a few numbers for the colors..
Also corp logos should not be that bad, as that is also just set images/colors used for them..
I am sure it can be done, and now that the servers have been made uber ultra good, I am sure they can handle it..
For those with client problems, just add a toogle option.. (its a bit sad, but I guess thats best to always have.)
