Any suggestions? I guess the strategy is simply to go in and take out a pocket at time from range. Are there any particular missions this set-up would struggle with? Obviously I am working with an Amarr agent

I don't know how much it'll help, but this is the fitting I use for solo 4s in a standard Apoc
Lows: T2 Capacitor Power Relay 4x Rat Specific hardeners 2x Amarr Navy Armor Reps
Mids: 3x T2 Cap recharger 1x T2 Tracking Comp, Tracking Speed
Highs: 6x Mega Modulated Energy Beams, Amarr Navy Multifreq, Amarr Navy Xray 2x Caldari Navy Cruise Launcher (rat specific missles)
Rigs: 3x Capacitor Control Circuit
Drones:
5x Medium T2 (rat specific)
The disadvantage I have with my fitting is that it's probably a bit low on damage, but it will perma run the entire deal while being nos'd, tanks out to about 1300 dps v/ Sansha/Blood, ~1000 for Angels.. It all comes down to whether or not you want to be able to walk away from it :) |

Personally I would fit energy locus coordinator rigs (stacking penalized seperately from range mods) and add a TE to the lows and an optimal scripted TC to the meds for a real ganktank. This gives you awesome range even with multifreq (though I tend to prefer Gamma). But as with any ganktank, you better know the missions in your sleep and don't ever mess up, coz your tank is pathetic. Oh and don't use EM drones ever. They are much worse than therm ones even against EM-weak enemies, since those have therm as secondary weakness and the therm drones do a whole lot more damage than EM ones.

This is untrue. The numbers come out to be close after resists, and the amarr drones have superior tracking.

i have a general question about lvl 4 amarr missions: How much tank is good enough? 700 DPS em-therm?

I ran a megabeam apoc for a while (now use t2 megapulse) with a mere 400-500 dps tank.
Can't take full aggro, and often dipped deep into armor (think halfway) but usually could get the incoming dps low enough pretty quickly.
Can't really run missions atm due to FW, but soon I will have a lot more experience with the megapulse Apoc, and what I've done so far says that I don't really need any more tank than I have now. __________________________________

Average blood cruiser: Therm resist 35% EM resist 25%. Drone base damage: Therm: 46.08 EM 33.12 Drone damage after resisit: Therm: 29.95 EM 24.84
Well, if you consider a 20% dps difference close, then you are right... I don't, 20% is a world of a difference and no amount of tracking makes up for that (well it would if the therm drone tracking was so bad that they have problems hitting, but they don't, at least not in PvE). What you say is true for kin and exp drones in many situations, but EM ones are pretty much always worse than therm except against EoM where they are worse than kin. In other words, EM drones categorically suck.

Hammerhead IIs do sixteen percent more damage than Infiltrator IIs. This is almost the difference between upgrading from T1 to T2 drones - it's a pretty big deal. Furthermore, Hammerheads don't need to be changed out for at least a half dozen other factions. It's quite silly to use EM drones. ---

OP,
Though I haven't keyed your setup into EFT, just eyeballing it - it looks like it could have cap troubles. Especially if you hit a Blood Raider mission with heavy neuting going on.
You'll have to find your happy medium between gank and tank, but you may very well wish to drop a heat sink for a capacitor power relay. It'll make a world of difference. ---
