I have only been playing for about a month and so far, lag has not been too bad, but today its been aw-full. Lucky, I been in safer areas but if I was in a difficult mission or PvP, would have been doomed. Does lag death happen often in this game? Thank you.

No, everyone just says it was lag that got them kiled in hopes that CCP will give them their ship back but they won't

Happened to me twice during 9 months.
One time it was fault of server so CCP reimbursed my ship.
Second time it was my computer/client issues so no reimbursement naturally.

It depends on where you are and what you are doing. I have chased a titan and lagged out for 2 hours to find out I was dead when grid loaded. Of course the other 800 people trying to load grid helped
Stay away from jita, amarr, and those types of systems and you can live with it. I will say this. If you learn to deal with the lag, you will be able to fight without dying all the time in laggy fleet battles.
I would say at your stage of playing this game, it should not be a big problem.
Just have fun playing, and I am sure you will find out all about where and when it is laggy and how to avoid those areas. |

Yes, It does happen and don't expect ccp to replace anything , you will be lucky if they do regaurdless of blame.
If in dout turn on shield or armour repper if you think you may get lag when you are warping in.
In most cases if you lose a ship to lag it will be just bad luck.
Don't let it ruin your game as computers get faster and ccp updates i think it will be less of an issue
b4 someone starts to troll my english suks and this is my view if you don't like it i don't care.

Depends on the engagement size. In small group encounters I think losing a ship to lag is fairly rare.
In large fleet engagements lag does become a problem. I was involved in a rather large (800) engagement and woke up in a clone vat before I knew I'd been targeted. Stuff happens. I'm sure I've done the same to others.

Lost two Hurricanes and a Typhoon one Saturday morning.
Problem was primarily my inadequate PC. Bit the bullet and upgraded. Problem solved. The recommended system requirements in the Knowledgebase is almost a must.
Player congestion lag sucks, try to avoid if at all possible.
Spend two months trading to get a stash of Isk, then you'll still be mad at losing a ship but have enough to go out and buy new toys.

Never happened to me. I think it's just something people say, to try to get CCP to reimburse their ship, or to try to make themselves feel less stupid.

try getting into a alliance fight in 0.0 with 500 ships and you get 1 fram per minute... then you'll know what lag is... lol..

Not too common in my experience, though I've had some nastily long loading times.
Part of its just common sense, if it takes you 5 minutes to clear the undock black screen, it's probably a bad idea to run L4s in that system. Ditto for PvP (though if you take 5 minutes blackscreen into a station camp, expect to wake up in the clone vat). When it's that bad, do something where lag won't kill you. That may involve playing something else, so be it.

I have lost a few to it, but that was all in big fleet battles. What is more annoying is losing a pod to lagging out when the ship pops - that seems to happen more often in my case, even in not so busy systems. _______________________________________________

Edited by: Bleeshtar on 19/06/2008 14:21:14 What Im reading here is that basically large engagements are unplayable.
This wont be the first MMO I've left due to that issue.
