The reason for this post is I've been itching to do lvl5 mission and I did try last night but in the end although I got 5 people together we were unable to find a TANK for this mission (Nighthawk or Eagle). So sadly after doing 27 jumps to get to the system it was canned and a feeling of great disappointment was felt all-round.
Ideally lvl5 missions would be best conducted with 1 x tank (Nighthawk or Eagle), 2 -3 Support ships (Obelisk, Osprey etc), 3-5 DPS ships (Ravens, Maelstroms, Abbadons, etc.) and 1-2 Hac's for scouting purposes. So we are looking at making fleets of 7-10 pilots that have these ships and skills to fly them.
Ideally a PVP team in a nearby HI SEC system would be ideal in a perfect world but IÆd be happy with just getting the mission team together.
You may be aware CCP fixed the lvl5 bugs and upgraded the mission rewards and LP's and not all missions are against other faction navies yes there are rats to be had . So an opt in and out if you're concerned about your faction standings will be quiet acceptable.
in game link to new lvl5 missions:http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=793410
I've friends from HELPMYMISSION who wish to partake also and i do trust them but to keep security lvl5 mission fleets will only be formed by Tranka, Asian159, Matt & myself. As these missions are in Low Sec and have a great deal of danger attached to them and we wouldnt wants anyone being setup and ganked.
As you may also be aware due to the introduction FW pirates are on the run in low sec due to militia blobing systems and So far reports have it that neutrals have been safe from militia aggression (but never be complacent itll only get you podded). So if we do this properly LVL5 missions apart from the mission will be relatively safe.
Well thatÆs basically the gist of what I'm trying to do. So if you're interested in trying LVL5 missions message me in game and let me know time you'd be normally available and what you'd be Ship bringing.
Cheers Dapto & Fly safe

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Good luck, btw!
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

Thanks for the replies people,
To Lord Darksaber: I will contact you in game as we presently have one lvl5 mission for Caldari Navy pending (THE FORTRESS). The bottom link will show you the mission but itÆs under Amarr Header. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=793410
To Speed Creature: ôTHIS IS NOT A TRAPö. And for someone whoÆs hidden in Republic Military School for that last 7 months and still has a security rating of 0.0, Um what do you know? . Not much obviously. You have never done a mission and therefore would not know who HELPMYMISSION is and what we do.
To Chainsaw: IT may be possible like you say. But I would not like to risk it as personally I really donÆt think a Drake could take this:
Fortress lvl5 Mission: 8 x Energy Neutralizer Sentries III. 4 x Cruise Missile Battery III. 4 x Tower Sentry III 8 x Frigs (Webrs & ScramrÆs) 6 x BCÆs 6 x BSÆs as you warp in on this mission.

A Drake tank is weaker than a nighthawk, but at BC V (something many Drake pilots may be missing) it's not that much worse. It can mount a shield harmonizing link, just like a Nighthawk. Siege warfare link specialist V and warfare link specialist V and a hardwiring the name of which escapes me at the moment may be something many newer Drake pilots are lacking. The Drake's problem is not tanking, it's hitting 250 dps in a full on tank setup.
Remember the Drake has 3 rig slots vs Nighthawk's 2. Yes, there is a difference -- but try it out in EFT (don't forget the shield harmonizing link and 3% shield recharge/capacity hardwirings!) and you'll be shocked how small the difference is for non-EM/therm. For EM/therm you'd want a minnie ship tanking anyway.
If L5s held any interest for me I'd rent out my leadership alt. I'm positive she could handle any Nighthawk-tankable L5 in a Drake. Also, look at the Onyx -- another very capable tanker which can be flown with a lot less SP than a command ship. And don't forget the Vulture!
p.s. even a small energy transfer on your support and gank ships is enough to keep the command link(s) going. But it's a lot nicer if your salvage/loot BC mounts one instead.
p.p.s. instead of 2-3 scout HACs just use disposable newbie alts and a Falcon or 2 on standby.
p.p.p.s. If you are itching to do L5s that badly we can arrange a Sisi-fest or something. L5s are still an order of magnitude too low on the payout scale to justify this kind of organization 'for real.'
p.p.p.p.s. Remote rep Domis are also a good balance of support, gank, and prat control. Just be sure to bring ECM drones as well as DPS and support drones. Since you won't have enough cap to perma-run 6 large remote reps fit 3x 720mm IIs or something.

I agree Toria & ill contact as I have a fleet going on sisi to test lvl5 later in the week hope you can make it.
FYI.
Rogue Spy (Drones) LVL5 û Are you serious CCP
Undertook Rogue Spy 1/3 lvl5 mission the other night and even with the added LPÆs this mission is still not worth risk involved, 5mil rewards & 47k SPÆs. NO BOUNTIES
3 jumps into low sec was the mission system and we had to go through a FW war zone. I had prior contacted and spoken to FW fleet commanders from both sides stating out intention of passing through this system to get to the mission site and obtained a green light to proceed unchallenged. So the mission team heads off to the site, as we warp in one of team who is monitoring local say ôoh crap 6 x -10 pirates in localö and we decide quickly to warp to a moon and await for the team member to get to the mission gate.
We warp to the mission gate and enter the dead space area to begin the mission. So far so good and our tank heads towards the structure as the mission states and is backed up by our support ship shield REPÆn as we close in. Initially when the NPCÆs engage there is 4 Energy Neutral Towers III that engage our Tank which INSTA zeroÆs its cap then 3 frigs and 2 battleships appear and engage the tank so far so good. 2 of our DPs ships move to take out the Energy Neutral Towers. Then all of the sudden 8 Cruise Missile Towers III & 4 Gun Sentry Towers III open up and lock the DPs ships. Within seconds 30 frigs, 8 cruisers , 4 battle cruisers and 18 battleships appear on our overview and start shooting our logistics support ship which quickly has to warp to safety. Then the NPCÆs lock on the 3 DPs ships virtually ignoring our tank and one DPs ship has to leave. Then our support warps back in the NPCÆs switch targets to the support and once again has to warp this happens 3 times. We abort mission and get the hell out of the system as thereÆs still 5 x -10 pirates in system and we are all feeling if they engage us dang we may as well kiss our asses goodbye.
Our fleet 1x Tank (BC) 3 x BSÆs 1 x BC 1 x Support Logistics. (value 400mil +)
Rogue Spy NPCÆs
4 x Energy Neutral Towers III, 8 x Cruise Missile Towers III & 4 x Gun Sentry Towers III. 33 x frigs, 8 x cruisers, 4 BCÆs, 20 x BSÆs.
And donÆt forget the 5 x -10 pirates still in system. My issue is not the risk or danger of being podded but the lack of any reward other than a few extra LPÆs. CCP get it right put bounties on lvl5 NPCÆs make it worthwhile.
Otherwise once again EPIC FAIL

... you are really going into too much effort for these lvl 5's. What you are asking for is going overboard for what they actually need. Talk to galmas or enki in chat about them - they've run a few themselves.
What they did is went out in a 3 domi team. Domi's had sentries, and the primary tank one had only hardeners in the lowslots, relying completely on the others to rep him up. The other domi's had at least 1 LAR of their own (to handle incidental aggro) and remote reps in the highs. Send the tanker in first, followed by his friends (after he has grabbed aggro), and have them immediately start repping. 15 warden 2's is enough to get through pretty much any mission out there rather quickly, and if you have a heavy neut or two you can also fend off tacklers. As for how successful they were - afaik they ran at least half a dozen or so before they got bored with it (payout just wasn't worth it).

Just tanked The Fortress lvl5 mission in my drake. no problems at all. i was even able to destroy all the ships and sentry's
Its only when the ship maintenance array get down to hull, then the reinforcements arrive.
This wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the 10 fighter drones the ship maintenance array releases. Sorry but you cant tank that much fire power
Haven't tried tanking with the vulture yet but i doubt even that could do it
Im definitely up for tanking in lvl5 missions for you, just dont expect to last long against those fighter drones. Need to take out the array very very fast and then jump out

ORLY?
Drake. Shield: 22035, recharge 179.4 (note: eft seems to be ignoring the 3% recharge gnome implant), 87185 effective.
71.2/76.9/62.6/75. 1075 'average' peak tankable dps, 1184 vs sansha. Angel and gurista tanks can be made MUUUCH better.
I won't argue a command ship is a better tanker. But a drake is plenty for L5s, when flown by the right command ship pilot. And this is a completely disposable t2 fit, with some key skills not at V (as was your fit). It does rely on support to function -- but if support can field a small remote cap and a small remote shield transfer the results are stunning.
