Can anyone cast any information on why Dust has a Pegi 18 certificate?
According to Pegi..."The adult classification is applied when the level of violence reaches a stage where it becomes a depiction of gross violence and/or includes elements of specific types of violence. Gross violence is the most difficult to define since it can be very subjective in many cases, but in general terms it can be classed as the depictions of violence that would make the viewer feel a sense of revulsion."
Seriously?
Dust is going to make the viewer feel a sense of revulsion?

It might have post mortem mutilation or something, IE dead body's falling to pieces if hit by gunfire or explosives. That's the latest thing to get the censorship of video games lobbies panties into a twist. The Gears of War series is rated 18 for example but there's nothing in there that the people who play violent games would find revolting.
The special delicate snowflakes in the game censorship lobby are probably more sensitive though. |

I think just any sort of non cartoony type violence goes that route... Or say volume. Granted like MPAA it's all subjective. |

Well the thing is I don't think Pegi 18 or other heavy classifications will harm them as much as it could other gaming companies.
CCP knows this is not really going to be a game most just pick up and play. It is going to mostly be among EVE players and their friends with PS3s. Mostly over 18 already. |

I think the gaming industry does this apparent 'overclassification' simply to make absolutely freaking sure the government doesnt roll them through the forced classification boards currently setup.
Could be wrong.
Frankly from what i see going on in some films nowadays they are doing a fine job. "caught on fire a little bit, just a little." "Delinquents, check, weirdos, check, hippies, check, pillheads, check, freaks, check, potheads, check .....gangsn++ all here!" |

These ratings boards should be given PEGI18 rating - they make me feel revolted. |
