Yes, rocket damage needs a boost.

immediate fail!
Rockets and missiles cant be countered by tracking disruptions as a matter of fact as far as the ship cant outrun them they always hit, (if they are in range) hence for balance reasons they should do less damage than turrets.

what about defenders... but my point is not that rockets should do more damage than turrets, i am focusing on the malediction mostly
a ship meant for rockets does MUCH less damage than fitted with turrets __________ -_- |

This has nothing to do with the advantages of missiles. Torps were boosted because close range missiles should do close range weapon damage. HAMs and Rockets havent been fixed yet. They do pityful damage compared to their long range counterparts. No one fits the short ranged one for the puny extra dps but at the loss of huge amounts of range. They fixed torps now. They need to add some damage to rockets and HAMs too now.

Or they could do something funky like give 10% rof instead of 5% rof as bonus to rockets for ships meant to fit them (Crow, Male, Kestrel and whatnot)... steady stream effect 4tw :D
The Dev blog about it can becalled "so you think you know all about spam eh?"
Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

And what about torps? Torp ravens are doing around the same damage as other turret battlesips. Oh and TDs dont really matter. Youll never get tracking disrupted in a frig lol.

After careful reviewal of this claim i admit i was wrong and adhere to this posters infinite wisdom. Rockets do too little damage, HAMs as well, people who read this thread is hereby encouraged to disregard my earlier post.
(I am serious i have realised the need for the rocket and HAM boost) ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Siege launcher fits pay that with grid/cpu. Rockets are easier to fit.
On the other hand HAMs are harder to fit and don't offer that much damage increase.

I think the Rocktes and HAM need a little boost or the special Missles Ships should get more boni on these short range missles.
Rockets are only used on small ships like Frigs and Intys and if you look at the Sabre for example the dmg is much higher then the dmg outbut with a Heretic with Rockets. Free-Space-Rangers | Proud Member of Morsus Mihi

Purpose of Malediction = tackle.
If you fit a Malediction with turrets, you find that: a) You go through cap a lot quicker. b) Your dps is still actually terrible. c) At least your ship still looks good.
If you fit a Malediction with rockets, you have two choices: a) Go within web range and risk being very slow and very dead. b) Use javelin rockets and just become quite slow and easier to track/catch/kill. Either way your dps still isn't going to be great.
If you fit a Malediction the same way as you'd fit a Crow you find that: a) You still do less dps. b) You are faster than the equivalently fitted Crow. c) You can tackle from further away, allowing a faster orbit and a quicker tackle.
If you want to tackle, the choice is pretty obvious. If you want to hurt things you'll be pleased to know that an ability to fly a Malediction is also an ability to fly a Crusader. Which is infinitely better at the actual killing bit.
The malediction is fine. If anything, it's the Raptor that still needs some love for what it does as its horribly slow. "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 18/06/2008 02:14:03 Fact of the matter is rockets need a flat out DPS boost.
Even ACs (which are easier to fit and do meh damage anyway) outdamage bonused rockets, and that's rather lousy.

why would i want to fit my malediction like a crow when its not a crow but its a malediction...
butseriously, ive tried fitting missiles on my malediction but it's pretty lame since 1. its not meant for it 2. it sucks cause it gets no dps bonus. __________ -_- |

No the problem is that rockets and hams do too little damage. Really.

I am fitting 3x Standard Missile Launcher II on my Malediction and nearly the same as a crow. the crow has more dps and the missles fly faster. The Malediction is a little bit faster (but only 200m/s or so with normal T2 Fit) and has more effective HP because of its 5% armor resist bonus. The damage is not so important i think on a Interceptor. On a HAC or Interdictor its more important (HAM and Rocket damage we talked about). If you wanna more dps on your interceptor fly a Crusader or Taranis and live without a webber because of the leak of med slots. Free-Space-Rangers | Proud Member of Morsus Mihi

because you can go faster and tackle from farther away?

ACs outdamage rockets only in sub-2-km ranges, so it's not a realistic scenario...it's like stating that the Vaga outdamaged the 4 turret zealot or sth, like in the rare scenarios where the vaga pilot would move in web range, web it's target and approach to 2km...
Still when unbonused ACs give better dps than Rockets on ships bonused for rockets is lame, given that ACs are considered the weakest of all short-range turrets...
Fitting the Malediction with Standard missiles is meh - I once was asked to kill a friendly pod who was bored to travel to his home-base and took so long (even with CN sabretooth) that he smacked me in local!
HAMs are fine IMHO...they could use some explosion velocity boost, but other than that are pretty powerful with faction or fury ammo - both on my Sac or my Drake...lowering HAM launcher PG reqs a tad would help for ships like the Cerberus tho...
