I had a thought, and i tried to get it accross o a friend, but he didnt seem to get the point, or maybe i missed the point, but here goes.
I think the game could be improved by getting rid of not only concord, but the current security system and rats.
So, you have in 'high-sec' the 4 faction areas, where noobs spawn, and in these systems the faction police take action on criminals, but more realistic, so a fine or imprisonment (extra days added to training prehap?) in the 'low-sec' and 'null-sec' is %100 player controlled. The main point is that anyone can be attacked anywhere, even in the faction systems the faction police can take a while to turn up. while this would cause chaos for a while, but a state of equalibrium would be reached. How can gate camps be achieved when they cant get the mods/ships? I dunno, its an idea, just wondering what others thought about it.

Well sec status is the main thing that needs to be fixed. any idea are welcome on that im sure.
I think the idea of banishing a someone from highsec space for so long for being naughty might be an idea.

you underestimate the tragedy of the commons. people will destroy the economy until nothing is left, and then simply quit to play a different game.

So you want empire to be just like 0.0? I know eves a harsh world but taking away empire that way would remove another side of the game. New players would be crammed in tiny starter area clusters too afraid to even leave for the most part. Plus the economy would take a nosedive. I like the fact I have high sec if I want to stay safer than other areas. Or low-0.0 space if I'm really scrapping for a fight.

Very well put...it is exactly what happens in "Shadowbane", an open pvp game with the mechanics for economics, but not the community.

Great idea actually. This game is supposed to be hardcore.

Yay, someone agrees!
I think i forgot to mention, the overall point of this was to make it more realistic, i guess more a virtual future, than a space game, so it would become an actual sandbox, lets face it sandbox 'games' arnt really games.

You are describing exactly what we have now, you just describe how EVE works.

Well, not really, I'm describing a more realistiv system, for example, you commit a crime in high sec, concord come an sort you out, very quickly. In real life, you comit a crime, are the police gonna turn up in under a minute?
