Ok I thought I would start a thread so that noobs to eve and teh online game genre could learn the unwritten laws to eve and all online games in ganeral.
I'll start witha few commandments then feel free to add them :o)
1: Thou shalt not steal ore from jetisoned containers or corp hangers, or basically steal at all
2: Thou shalt not lay claim to empire space
3: Thou shalt not lock someone you dont know just for the sake of it lest you be gunned down now or in teh future
4: Thou shalt not use CAPS in local
5: thou shalt not use long winded copy and paste CAP posts in trade.
6: Thou shall Respect thy GODS and not anger them (they are the guys flying past your frigates in battleships)
7: Thou shalt not think that thy gods have a duty to help you, if they do help you be thankfull
8: Thou shalt not venture into the forbidden lands of thy gods unless they give you permission 0.0 alliance controlled space
9: when one of thy gods gives you advice stop talking and listen as they bestow wisdom and wisdom is power!
10: NEVER threaten someone with being killed by someone you've just met and doesnt owe you anything lol 'I'm gonna get my new battleship mate to attack your corp' as these acts will be punished with fire and brimstone and PWNAGE

Sounds like someone had a cranky morning.
I'll add a few:
Not everyone in a battleship is smart enough to use it, nor are they necessarily experienced enough to tell you what to do. This goes the same for any character outfitted with the best gear in any mmo.
Right click. A lot.
Take everything with a grain of salt.
Try everything once, some things twice.
Remember it's nothing but pixels.
If you're gf/wife/so is leaving you because of EVE or any MMO, you've got way more problems than a gaming addiction.
Bathe.
Drink water.
Sleep from time to time. It improves your decision making process.

- Thou shall not try to escrow shuttles as battleships
- Thou shall not try to kill someone at a gate, and then after you get killed by the guns ask them if they could get your can for you. (its happened to me  )
- Thou shall not spam local with things that should go on the trade or recruitment channel
- Thou shall not trash talk your enemy in local and call them n00bs when you're the one who lost the battle

and remember when they guys in power hand out riules they usually to ensure they stay in power. These are guys who shoot down unarmed velators amd charge a million isk to fly through their space when you could probably make it through without seeing a single one of them.They have the best builders and the worst Markets.
The alliance system us primitive to say the least They are not Gods. in fact if they are by themselves and you have three or four buddies with ya they are quite vulnerable.Respect their power worship noone.

Gods? in battleships?
All I can say to that is ... bs . Just yesterday one of those gods was asking for help in the help channel... they were a noob. Not only that but many of those 'gods' may have a battleship but not the skills to do anything except mine.
Not only that but many frigate and cruiser pilots are excellent pilots who can outmanouver your so-called 'gods'.
... there are some battleship owners i hold in respect, even some i think of as enemies, but just owning a battleship is not a good enough reason.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Its a game, we live our lives obeying rules enforced upon us, lets have some fun where we can! As long as we are not going against the game mechanics or exploiting then everything is fair game to me
In general though, i have to agree that if n00bs follow these rules whilst they get to grips, they should be doing OK.

Thou shall not ask for a price of an item, then laugh in the person's face when ye get answer when ye already knows that ye are too f*&*king cheap to pay for it.
If thou cannot afford to insure thy ship, ye should not buy it.
When entering 0,0 space claimed by an Alliance and there are anchored cans with messages on them, read them and act accordingly. If thou ship is destroyed and clone activated, do not act surprized when ye are 10 jumps into alliance space.
When ye ask to join a corp, ask for a Human Resource officer contact person in a corp's public channel instead of spamming "C4n I j0in Ur C0rp?"

In response to a few replys.
IF your a frigate noob everyone in a batleship is a god to you irrelevent of their game experience.
I have decided to write a quick hiarercy structure and before anyuone mentions it I probably spelled hiarercy wrong lol.
frigate noob- cruiser noob- cruiser pilot- battleship noob- battleship pilot- battleships pilot with all the other skills that your really should of had before you got your bs in the first place- veteran battleship pilot (usually found in 0.0)
Alliance territorys: this is kind of a  issue at the moment, but I personally recognise ownership of 0.0 systems (not empire) so my post did not contradict its self, I was really on about lamers who go into a 0.4 or 0.5 empire system and claim it as their own with a corp of 2 people lol.
btw: I've noticed kind of a trend creeping into the forums were in every thread at least one person will make a referance steriotyping everyone who uses the forums as internet geeks (no matter how slight the referance) please stop doing that people as you have no idea who your talking to lol. For all you know you could be talking to someone sat in the playboy mansion. Anyway the point still remains, who wants to talk about rl stuff on an online game board ?????

This is well true... it's maths and some frigs will die... But I've very nearly nailed a black bird in one frig had there been to or three of us, the black bird would have been toast.... admittedly so would two or all of the frigs... but that's the maths of fighting
