I've done virtually the same thing in HED-GP ages ago. I was killing a Phantom Squad (I think it was that corp.) Rupture with my Caracal and for some reason the pilot ejected. Right at that moment was I trying to press "Approach" but, of course, it became "Board Ship".
I was just entering the Rupture as the torps from my Caracal finished it off 
I wasn't cool enough to pod myself though

Errr, Daakkon, you should know the answer to that or had you somehow forgotten the time I destroyed your Caracal (or was it a BB?) in U-QVWD?
Feel free to keep following me around the boards shuting "safespot" - it only makes you look silly and I'm quite willing to let you do that
