I have a -1.51 standing with the Gallente Federation, thanks to being in a Caldari Corp for 9months. I have diplomacy IV, which raises my standing from a -1.51 to a .33; now to join FW I need a .5 - my question is, will I be able to join once I get a .5 or will it still see my original standing of -1.51? I clicked the militia icon in a federal navy station not too long ago, and it instead of seeing my .33 standing, it said I still had a -1.51...

It uses your actual standing, not your effective standing.

Great - so only way to get it up is to run missions like crazy?

CCP fail. It's too hard, actually near impossible to grind your faction higher once it's below -2. So people get ******. <3 Zulupark |

Couldn't you grind up to .5 standing with a low quality level agent after about 6 hours of missioning for them? So if you just grinded missions for about an hour and fifteen minuts a day over the course of five days have enough to join? I'm sorry, I have never tried to level up a standing from negative, does it take more to go up in? / "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do." - Confucius, Chinese philosopher & reformer (551 BC - 479 BC.) |

it takes A LOT more....every 16 missions you get the storyline, as everybody knows. And storylines are the only way to get standing for the faction needed to join the FW. You want to have the standings with the main race, not a single npc corp, thats why you will need these storyline missions. When above 0 you can hand in tags for quick standing increase though

Edited by: Heknai on 15/06/2008 18:14:32 Ugh..thats brutal. So far lvl II storylines give about a .08-.1 standing increase. I dont even want to do the math. Where do you hand in tags for standing increase once above 0?

i think lvl 3s and 4s give a bit more, but nevertheless its a HUGE grind
once you reach standing above 0 you can hand in the tags in the datacenters in space

pick a station with two or more lvl 1 or 2 agents, you get an important mission every 15 missions if I remember correctly and going through the missions on a fast ship while ignoring loot does not take that much time. It's not easy, but then again this is EVE.

yeah it goes fast in doing the single mission, but then again it are like 350+ missions he has to do....

Difficult? 0.5 is not even close to difficult.
Find a Gallente corp with good standing, they will swallow your bad standing through their average standing. Plenty of these corps recruiting at the moment.

If I join a Gallente corp, does that not then disallow my admittance into FW?

I recently ground up a faction standing of -4.25 to positive and yea it was a grind, but it wasn't impossible. The devs clearly stated the entry reqs in advance so you had time to leisurely grind.
Oh and yes if you join a corp, it is based on the corps standings which is an average of all the players in the corp, so if you have negative standings that is the easiest way to join FW, find a corp to join. --

thats encouraging. I found a system with 2 level I agents at the same station, so I should be able to grind through those pretty quick. I may try and join a corp as well, thanks guys.

Not if that Gallente corp signs up for FW.

As a note, entire corps can join FW if their average standing is high enough. Technically, this could allow people to get back even from -10.0 standings to any of the factions involved in the war (currently the main empires).
Say, you're -7.0 to Gallente. You join a corp with three people, all +5.0 to Gallente. The total is +8.0, and the new average is +2.0. Welcome to the Federation Defense Union, soldier. (Not sure if this allows you to enter Gallente hisec, though... might need to watch your steps until you've got your standings up in lowsec first.)

I have a question...if your Gallente Fed standing is -1.51 your Amarr or Caldari standing must be high. So why don't you join the Amarr or Caldari Militia? After all that's who you choose to affaliate with these past 9 months.
Or are you having a change of heart and getting all patriotic and stuff and now must join the people you have been happly killing these past months?

haha yes, i've had a change of heart - my corp leader always yapped about how caldari is better than everyone else, and how their ships are superior. got irritating. another question - if I kill caldari ships during missions does that raise standings at all for gallente federation?

I have a one man Minmatar corp that I set up purely for jump clones. If I opened the doors to all that just wanted an instant 'in' to the Min fw, would there be any kind of problem if the standing eventually fell below the entry requirement of .5 standing?
(ps if you have standings problems and just want a bit of min fw I will be online for a bit more tonight if you put in an app at the rens treasury hq.- corp name 'the socialworkers')
