Jita locks up every Sunday during prime time. It lasts for hours. It happens EVERY Sunday. I have a character that I've been trying to log into Jita for about 3 hours now. Had the same issue last Sunday, and the one before that, and the one before that.....
At some point, CCP needs to address parts of their game being unplayable due to poor programming/hardware or its going to cost them a lot more than it already has. Everyone is understanding of temporary issues and are willing to work around them. This particular issue has been going on for years though and yet patch after patch of new content fails to address it.(more than likely, the new content adds to the issue)
Please, make the next "free" expansion the one that fixes issues like the constant Jita BS and fleet lag/desync. I for one would be willing to live without some spiffy new content like Faction Warfare if it meant the game were actually playable in many situations where it is not at the moment.
I really shouldn't have to remember to log out somewhere other than Jita when I'm playing on Friday or Saturday if I want to play your game on Sunday afternoon.

CCP says they are not aware of any lag issues...Jita is a perfect example. Try logging in sometime...if you can

Edited by: Laela Mayhem on 16/06/2008 00:16:11 Well, it seems obvious that CCP has made a financial decision to save money by having less than the needed amount of server hardware/software to handle peak loads. Its a calculation on their part. What is the minimum amount of hardware/software/personnel needed to handle the normal load. That is what they go with and when the load goes above the norm(but certainly not higher than is easily predictable), we the paying customers are just supposed to suck it up and accept the fact that the game becomes unplayable at that point in that location.
Many..and I do mean many...providers of server based consumer applications are actually able to handle their peak customer loads with little to no difference noticed by the end users. Why CCP has been unable to accomplish this after 5 years is inexcusable.
Its time for CCP to wake up. Please, CCP, configure your hardware and software to actually be able to handle the peak loads that fleet fights and hubs like Jita put on the system without melting down nearly every time the load climbs above what is normally there. Other companies seem to manage to pull this off, you can too.

I suspect it's more a question of bad game design. Although I'm new at this game from what I've read Jita is a trading and transport hub which means huge numbers of players are moving through it all the time. The problem is (and I'm stuck jumping to Jita at the moment) when you accept a mission to go somewhere you have no idea what route the autopilot will take so you end up unwittingly jumping to Jita as it's the shortest route to anywhere in that area of the game map.
Now I'm going to default on a mission and lose my collateral simply because of a game glitch which is annoying. I shalln't be accepting any more missions until I'm in area far, far away from Jita..............

Since EA EVE is constantly crashing and I already crashed twice while passing through Jita... There really should be a way to prevent logins in Jita and possibly a option to select a nearby system instead. Please refrain from moderating on the discussion forums. |
