I'm about to join the milita as an outlaw, and I've been told there have been problems with new PVPers that think that being flashy means being a target, so many militian outlaws have been shot by they own faction.
How should I react if that happens? Obviously first I would try to explain the situation but... if that pilot keeps agressing, what should I do? Shoot back? Will I get standings drop if I do?
Did you have any experience like this? What did you do to solve it?

if you are both in the same militia, that pilot will get a large standings hit. The smart ones will learn quickly. The dumb ones will be ejected.
In all fairness however, i can see being red flashy as a bit of an issue with all the militia folk around, you may want to up your sec status. :( We come for our people |

Edited by: Tamia Clant on 17/06/2008 11:59:35 Well, it's not so much of a problem as long as your militia is informed that they should not have friendly militia pilots in their overview at any time. I have yet to see it happen, and there's lots of outlaws on the gangs I fly on. (I'm in the minmatar militia)

Well, I know they will be punished, but my question is what should I do.
I don't care about their standings: What I don't want to happen is having to stare at how that guy is killing my ship because I can't fight back due to standings drop.
Will I lose standings if I fight back against one of those guys?

My point was that in time people will learn. I dont think you get a standings hit for defending yourself, if you do then its a bit of a bug. We come for our people |

I'm a member of Gallente militia since 2nd day of FW and I'm a flashy too. Was shoot only twice by friendly militia. Both time I was flying a frigate and survived. I think "so many militian outlaws have been shot by they own faction" is some kind of overestimated. If only 1 noob pilot is shooting you it isn't a problem at all. Problem could escalate if you fire back and his friends engage to help him. Just be a little more careful, like a real outlaw :)

If you do it's most likely a bug, generally you never get any penalties for defending yourself.
What's up with the limegreen typing, by the way?

So far I've been podded by a fellow militiaman(undocked in a shuttle to a black screen), and lost a sentinel to a friendly militia blob(I'm in amarr, blob was caldari). Been shot at TONS of times by "friendlies". One time I warped to a friendly fleet, only to find out when I got there that 90% of them were caldari...
Plated trimarked abaddon, after yelling in local for a few minutes people started to notice and took their points off. Good thing most of my fellows know me by name. Also a good thing that only one in thirty caldari pilots fits a point.
Oh, and on the one that podded me. After I informed everone in militia chat, several player corps marked him red and KOS. He hasn't been back on since. Ended his smack pretty quickly.
I am not a templar, a fighter drone used by carriers. |

The highest risk of being shot is when you're dropped out of fleet (or someone else is) as most overviews are set up to only hide gang. I was teamkilled by a GM on sisi that way |

I haven't been shot by mistake by my brothers and sisters in the Tribal Liberation Force. And if they do ... well, lets say I'll make it swift and painless for them, I like them a lot you know.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 17/06/2008 13:59:57 Why are outlaws allowed into militia forces anyway? Seems like being -5 or lower with CONCORD should result in an immediate ejection from an Empire paramilitary force. Just saying that logic is something to consider. Of course I'm not saying that outlaws shouldn't be able to serve in or start their own player corps and then enlist that corp in FW.

Observe the deference displayed to CONCORD by the vertical fleet.

There's always teal, though it's not really the same thing.

A chum from the corp has had the chance to test, and he got no standings loss. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to defend myself.. hell I'd even offer (an unreasonably high) ransom if I felt the need .
So far im finding this fw malarky great, I just wish the amarr would come out of hiding a little more often when I'm active , or that we could balance the numbers by swapping sides or something (referring to rvb a bit).

I have a related problem with the new FW: I generally tend to shoot neutrals if there is the opportunity. Currently, however, I can't really distinguish between "real" neutrals and neutrals that are, in fact, in a friendly militia other than mine (Minmatar militia that is). Right now, I can only do this by looking at their info and also at the info of their corp (Minmatar Republic does not show up as the "Alliance" under the corp, even if that corp is in the militia). In general I would try not to shoot at those fellow Minmatar pilots, but this cumbersome process to find out if a neutral is actually a friendly militia member makes this nearly impossible. What I want to say: I'd really like to have the option (just the option) to mark members of friendly militias with, let's say, light blue stars and in addition filter them from my overview. -

Yeah you'll get shot at.
We should put an 'overview settings' sticky on the FW Forum that doesn't exist.

You have this option already. Set personal standings with the minmatar militia to + whatever suits you. ==================================================
