wasn't this within the first month of retial release? and, didn't they do a rollback and give players 200k for it? yeah. i think they did. so, no points would be from that. right?
or am i just stoopid?

Yes there was, we were rolled back 27 hours less than a month after the game went live, and all players received 200K isk because of it.

Grats gents:)
ATM have 4 alts with 1.3-1.8 mil skill points each and 7 weeks into the game. 90% + of those are in learning skills-my 1st just maxed in all 6 today. Implants are in my future (wish me luck at 15-25mil per!). Hope to catch up someday, or at least beat a record or 2 at my 1 year mark:)

Actually, I think there will be some kind of update to clones near Summer's end. The current top clone I think is only 19.2mil; and as you can see, some players are 14mil and higher. I think I saw someone post the other day they had 16mil skill points.

Every hear of multiple accounts? Lost time EVE-I did a count there where hundreds of people with 2 or more acounts. That's why some characters are really focused, there's another char that can do everything else, works really well I might add. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Gariuys,
What Caanan is alluding to is that character of Doctor can't really do anything but sit in a hangar. IE: Does that character 'play' the game, or just shoves things in the oven and logs back out?
Multiple accounts, sure everyone has heard of people doing this. It still doesn't negate the fact that an account could be doing nothing actively in game. A person with multiple accounts pays more than those that only need 1 account to have fun. If they need more than 1 account, and have the real income to do such, let them go ahead.
I have a feeling though that most of those with 2 accounts are for specialized characters, and may not be played much. An example could be the Doctor above. Really a 'scientist' so he doens't really log on and 'play' the game, just cooks things, logs off, call me when you need me again. Some people could call that fun I guess.
BTW, to the Doctor referenced in the above, I do not know if you are a player in the game, or just an alt for researching; I am merely using yours as an example of what could exist in game.
I will stick to the 1 account so my monthly bill will be less than those with multiple accounts; and I will be a jack of all trades on my character (just hit 14mil yesterday), and let those who want multiple accounts have at it. There are more than 1 way to play the game and each will have to determine their own version of fun and how much it costs to have that fun.
I just know I am not going to purchase an extra account just to have some specialized character who doesn't really get to 'play' the game, but only gets called in to take care of grunt work. We have alts for the generic stuff, the specialized fields and a 2nd account are for those who are really into game and somehow find it worthwhile to pay more to have that account.
Maybe they get double the fun than those of us who are only playing our single member account?

With that many skill points, the Doctor would be the main character on that account. I was just wondering as you brought up, what does he do and does that character actually play the game, or does the Doctor's handler (real life person) has a 2nd account with a character that can fly ships, mine, missions, or whatever.
Hey, we could be wrong, maybe the Doctor is a real player who enjoys sitting in the hangar or really likes just toodling around in a frigate the past year or so. How he would make a living, I don't know. Chances are though that the Doctor, given skill sheet shown, is really just someones 2nd account to do industry/science duties. The real player behind that account (guess) has another account for a real character that can do things in Eve outside of the station.
Note: Each account can have 3 characters on it. If the Doctor has 16mil skill points, the real player behind him would have to have another account with 3 more characters on it. The 2 characters remaining on the Doctor's account would be pitifully skill based to be usable.

All this huge amount a skill points talk makes me wonder..
are there allways gonna be clones that can hold all skill points? ea. is it wise to invest in some skills when you cant get a char to hold them all anyways.
so like as a combat character putting points on industry etc is stuppid coz your gonna lose gunnery points when you die coz you have to much points for even the best clone to hold?

I mentioned this, I think earlier in this thread, that at 19.2mil skill points; a new clone will be needed. My guess is by summer's end, a higher end clone will have been put into the game.
Rough GUESS only, but if I have 14mil and the game has been out 1 year; simple average is over a mil per month. Someone posted having 16 mil, so by September or thereabouts; a new clone would have to be in place for all those approaching the limit now on the top clone available as of now.

You guys are right......I have more than one account. Dr Caymus was created specifically to manufacture items, research and copy blueprints. I also selected an academic path in building the character that provided the Biology and Genetic Engineering skills, hoping that one day those skills would have useful functionality within the game.
Dr Caymus doesn't really see alot of game time. I log him on to build and sell items and to keep skills training. I could have trained up some ship and gunnery skills, but so far, its been more fun pushing for a high skill point total by training industry and science skills, even though many of the skills currently have limited or no real use in the game. As an example, all of the specialty refining skills have been trained to level 4, and a few to level 5. I'm guessing those skills will become more useful once mobile/deployable refining structures are added to the game.
I have a couple of other accounts that each have 13 million or so skill points. One was set up originally to be a trader () Fortunately, he has a very balanced set of attributes, so has become competent pilot and very skilled miner. The other is a level 5 Apoc pilot and very strong gunner. These two guys see alot more game time.

Having amassed this level of skill points is an achievement, but makes me wonder just how (newbies) will ever be able to compete with you people...
i know a new player should have no way of ever matching you for a considerable time, but and new player (me included) will look at posts like this and wonder if its pointless ever tyring to catch up.
just a thought....
-------------------------------------------------------------- EI: 'E was right. I was happier then and I had NOTHIN'. We used to live in this tiiiny old house, with greaaaaat big holes in the roof.
GC: House? You were lucky to have a HOUSE! We used to live in one room, all hundred and twenty-six of us, no furniture. Half the floor was missing; we were all huddled together in one corner for fear of FALLING!
TG: You were lucky to have a ROOM! *We* used to have to live in a corridor!
MP: Ohhhh we used to DREAM of livin' in a corridor! Woulda' been a palace to us. We used to live in an old water tank on a rubbish tip. We got woken up every morning by having a load of rotting fish dumped all over us! House!? Hmph.
EI: Well when I say "house" it was only a hole in the ground covered by a piece of tarpaulin, but it was a house to US. "

Thats why you stick with your lvl of players. Why should a newbie be able to stand up and win against a person who has played for over a year?
Its just like that in any game. ---

The situation is not quite as bad as Tank said. Sorrento note that the skill level progression is not linear, a newbie can with relative ease get their skills up to level 3 or 4. The difficulty lies in getting to that final level which can give you the edge in a combat situation
Though note that the skills on the character sheet aren't that important. More important are the skills that can be found between your ears. ----- Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene 5, Moon 4, Duvolle Laboratories Factory. Ammo at affordable prices. |

Eve is one of those games where numbers count, if you get 3 people with 4 million skillpoints in a bs and go against someone with 14 million skillpoints the 14 million skillpoint guy will loose. (assuming all pilots know roughly what they are doing).
Its not like in most MMORPGS where a lvl50 character can annihalate entire groups of lower lvled players... -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs
