I just downloaded the new patch that fixes crashes or something and I ran EVE but it lost connection and i closed the game down. When I tried to start it up again only the small EVE screen appeared and then the game started running but with no visuals. I was left just looking at my desktop. I was able to login (I know cause of the sound). I've restarted just about everything so I'm wondering if there is away to remove that last patch fix thing.
any ideas?

I have the same problem. After doing a complete reinstall, it still does the same thing. Any answers CCP?

Yes same here and even put it on another drive same thing no screen but got sound.
CCP Please Fix Asap :(

Those of you who had problems with the optional patch. Can you please run logserver and file a bug report where you give a good description of the issue and step by step instruction to what you did when you installed it. Check out the Logserver part of the instructions below.

just randomly started happenening daybefore last.
thought i had a corrupted eve file so uninstalled and dl new basic client
game loads shows on task bar shows in task manager when you minimise maximize the little eve icon goes to show it has expanded but you still see the desktop
using task manager to bring to the front just locks up the machine
i just canceled my sub after 4 years enough of the crappy patches id give you all my stuff but cannot log into so gtfo

I am getting the same problem, but i do have the audio playing in the background. I'll do the bug reporting process in a bit.

yes if you go to the eve folder and start the game in EVE safe mode the loge in screen appears. just log in press escape and in the general tab optional upgrade press uninstal

after reinstalling it still didnt work, then i tried running it in eve safe mode, and it worked... i simply then went to make fullscreen... and it works!
