I have often thought that the logging into EvE with more than one account is a pain in the "Neck"!
If you run multiple monitors itGÇÖs a total click-fest to get a client to launch on the right monitor and it always seems to default to the one you donGÇÖt want the client on next. With the introduction of the new launcher I thought it may be an awesome opportunity for CCP to address this issue.
The thinking is that with minimal user input the user can launch EvE and Authenticate (enter User Name/Password) all in one go. I know that Windows have the ability to detect the layout of your monitors in the Graphics settings. Why not represent this on the Launcher in a simple format to allow user to select where an EvE client will be launched. Who the hell really knows where NVidia GTX 780 1 and NVidia GTX 780 2 is. Humans are visually orientated creatures. After all we drew on cave walls before we wrote on papyrus. The flip side of the coin is to keep it simple for the folks that have a single monitor.
Have a look at these launcher modifications for both Single Monitor and Multiple Monitor setups.
The second bit is the relogging to a toon on the same account. WhatGÇÖs the point of re-authenticating when the user just wants to switch toons. Most modern business applications allow you to switch logical profiles without relogging i.e. accounting systems allow switiching to related companies.
Here is the same Launcher concept with the ability to switch toons without the need to restart the client or relog.
So guys I'd like some constructive feedback please?

tools to make multiple clients less time consuming = win.
I especially enjoy patch-days. Login - patch, login - patch, login - patch... login - client update, login client update, login client update..... day 2, login - client update, login client update, login client update, login - client update, login - client update...
gah.

Nice idea.
Logging all my accounts in, is quite an effort. The multi screen idea makes perfect sense when you want to get to grinding isk, not grinding logging in. |

I run my clients in window mode too...but its still a pain when I have to minimize the client on my main screen to start up the second client and then drag it over to my 2nd screen.
And I know some people with 3-4 screens... having the client always start on the same screen and then having to drag and drop all over the place probably sucks even more for them. |

Hmm not sure why that happens for you. All iv had to do is press escape and go to the display options and then select what card i want it set to... Card 1 is monitor 1, Card 2 is monitor 2... At least thats how i have it set up. So if i open 1 client and its on screen one i just change the display option to Card 2 and it hops over to my second monitor. |

That's basically a borderless window that uses the screen resolution and is aligned to look like full screen.
If you combine this with a tool like DisplayFusion, you can pretty easily start multiple clients on different monitors with a single click or double click per client. (DisplayFusion e.g. allows to have a task bar on every monitor and has a setting to start application windows on the screen they were started from. It also lets you define shortcuts to move windows between monitors.) |

Two comments;
Multiple Installers mean as many patches that need to be done (Donwload & Install)
Display fusion requires payment for the license if I'm not mistaken. Surely this can be achieved with an EvE Launcher |

I've tried this. If i change it from 1 to 2, my client goes AWAY... it tries to fit itself in between the monitors, i can only see a tiny sliver of it on the edge of 1 screen if i change the video card #. |

Hi
I agree with this, it is frustrating opening the 2nd account and and having it open in front of the one you are already in, also being in 0.0 it takes your attention away frrom space which could be critical which means you have to stop what you are doing and get safe first.
The ability to select the screen from the new launcher would be a great improvemnent to this

Why have multiple installs for multiple clients?? I read somewhere that it was necessary years ago, but not since I've played.
Also the fixed window option makes running multiple clients on multiple monitors very easy now, before that option was there, evemon made it easy.
Having said all of that, I am in favor of making even easier than it already is, however that is so far down the list of things that need to be/could be/or should be changed that I won't be worrying about it anytime soon. |

Confirmed! I run 5 accounts side-by-side from a single installation.
Side-note: I recently tested the multiple installer paradigm to see for myself if it had any benefits. I could not see improvement, in CPU usage, Memory usage or Graphics card usage. |

I use a .bat file to launch Eve in fixed widow mode on 8 monitors. They remember which monitors they're supposed to be on. I then use a 'G' macro to move from one client to the next filling out passwords.

Unfortunately the new launcher has screwed everything up if updates are to be had. I spend longer patching/fixing my setup than playing. Amphetimines are your friend. |

Skyee[/quote I'd just want to say, like this person, that the splash screen going in front of everything for a few seconds is bad. When clicking on another window behind it to bring that to the front doesn't work.
It wasn't this way before? What's the go with the change? |
