Currently deployed in Afghanistan, Eve time is limited.
I have compiled everything I know (and everything you know, too) about wormholes to include four different threads originated by me totaling more than 50,000 hits. All threads were revamped and clarified as well as spell checked. All work with the guide and the facts to include verification, editing and posting is my own except where credit is given. The guide has a linked Table of Contents as well as some illustrations.
- The purpose of this guide is to take players who know little or nothing about Wormholes (also referred to as W-spaces and holes) or POS setup and defense to the point of being able to select, move in and stay in their Wspace.
- Wormhole tactics will also be covered and will include information on how to take advantage of your island among the stars. It will not cover full explanations on how the game mechanics allow or will not allow certain things to happen as that would make the guide too vague or bloated to be useful.
- It is not the intent of this guide to explain all the details about the numerous menus and submenus of POSs themselves but rather the strengths and weaknesses of various POS modules and why they work or do not work for wormholes.
- This guide will work for any wormhole class, but it is generally written for a Class 4 Wspace or higher. There is always more than one way to skin a cat with Eve, but if you follow this guide to the letter your chances of success are about as good as it can be with any class of wormhole.
- There are also multiple ways to colonize a wormhole. This guide will cover both transient and long term stays as well as raiding setups.
- The majority of this guide is from my own experience from running a wormhole-based corporation in a Class 5 (Fusion Industries and The Hole Patrol). There is also a good portion that was derived from numerous other players and they have my full thanks and appreciation.
Specific credits for various bits of information are still contained in the original threads linked in the guide (hope they are still there).
As with all Eve guides and advice, feel free to ignore what you want at your own peril.
Hosting and website construction is provided by my wife who lets me stay up all night playing Eve, YOUR THE BEST, LOVE!
The online version will remain at 1.06 due to the difficulties involved with updating it.

This guide is mandatory reading in my corp for all new members, and has been for the last 18 months since I discovered it.
I also send a link to this guide to those w-space first-timers that allow me to catch them....
To this day, I still refer back to it, even tho I've been in W-space for almost 2 years.
Thanks again for your hard work and dedication in writing/revising this, ArcDragon.
Edit: just saw that you're still deployed.....Stay frosty and thnx for serving. |

I was very appreciative of this guide when I first found it, and it's still a very valuable tool for new and experienced w-space denizens alike.
Thank you very much for the effort. |

Found one small imperfection a while back and forgot to mention it until now..
page 61.. 7. Only a ship that can FIT a Covert Ops Cynosural Generator module can jump through one. Capital ships can NOT lock onto one.
T3's with a covert subsystem can jump and can't fit a covert cyno. And I'm assuming you're referring to a black ops bridge. Only a black ops itself can actually jump to one. |

Can I add a small tactic for POS setup?
This was a technique used to stop cloaking ships from being able to warp to your POS and just observe it to know its defenses better.
I was in a WH roam scouting around for a group when I found a POS and decided to warp in from a planet. The corp who set the POS up setup small anchored cans at varying distances on a vector facing each planet in the WH. When I came out of warp I was basically forced out of cloak and the POS guns started to lock me. I got out fast and the danger wasn't immense to me, but I really couldn't get much of a hold on exactly what defenses they had. I was able to find a route via a safe spot to get a safe look, but if my ship hadn't been faster I may have lost it. or taken some good hits.
Its not perfect, but considering small anchorable cans are dirt cheap and essentially take up no cargo room since you can fill them with fuel when transporting them. It seemed very effective at scaring the crap out of me and There was a wreck by one can hinting that it actually scored an easy kill.

very nice guide
i quickly skimmed through it at work yesterday and thought i read some where that the grav sites of c1 and c6 are no different?
i tried to look for that info again when i got home but i couldnt find it, maybe i misread something.
if its true though, does that mean that the rats in the grav sites of a c6 are just as easy to kill as the ones of a c1? |

Only thing they share are their names, for each class in the w-space system from C1 to C6 the challenge are being stepped up.

edit : sorry saw the comment on bubbles while reading again, seems just as effective
Yes this can be effective. I know often when scouting wormholes, if I see a pos with multiple warp bubbles and cans on dscan I won't even bother trying to check it out unless I really care. It can help keep all but the most persistent people away. |
