[The COAD has been lacking in battle reports, so I thought I'd try to get us back on track.]
With Goon forces redeployed from the battles around NOL, the Goon legions struck north. One has to wonder why BOB didn't pursue east into Angle space and repeat their classic 2006 blitz of the area...
Goons west flank, therefore, is relatively calm. MC imploded, and dozens of petty alliances have created a buffer zone between BOB and GOON space.
Thus in the last month, SMASHKILL stopped raiding R-6 and actually invaded it. They, as we know, killed a GOON titan there, but for failure of command, control, and logistics, they didn't push their advantage. Much like many doomed military campaigns where the invader overreached, the SMASHKILL forces fell back, and back, and back...
GOON shifted dozens of caps up the Tabbetur, Ofage PIPE into low sec FORGE. From there, the SMASH forces fought valiantly at first, then the implosion was complete.
Last seen their diplomats were begging the rest of the North to help stop the Goon-led legions. Finally today something happened!
A Morsus Mihi fleet moved directly to Intrepid Crossing Space to D-ITZ and attacked right at the heart of the GOON pets. The junior pet, Ethereal Dawn, hurried a small bs fleet thru jump bridges, and the battle was joined.
At 18:52 the first IRC Scorpion couldn't hold off against focused fire and imploded. The IRC carriers and remote repair ships helped the 2nd IRC Scorpion hold out until 19:07! Imagine the combined blobs all focused on one Scorp for nearly 20 minutes of carnage, but its Caldari hull, permeated by laser gouges, imploded also.
From that moment, the IRC FC started calling for all reinforcements. Sadly at the very time of this battle, Ethereal Dawn top Nighthawk pilot, Abbador, lost his Nighthawk to pirates in Aschee! He was spamming Sisters of Eve missions for Loyalty points while his sister fleet of IRC friends died. More amazing, did he jump clone back to help? NO! By the time the smoke and interstellar dust settled in D-I, Abbador lost A SECOND Nighthawk to pirates in Aschee! Could another command ship have turned the battle? Well Abbador is minus 500mil isk ...
Still amazing, IRC lost a Viator at the same time of the battle, far away in Gallente space? What was this pilot doing? He was hauling 800 000 000 of zydrine and megacyte and it went POOF to pirates! So sad...
Back to the battle, with those above and dozens of other pilots AWOL, the Morsus Mihi spider dominix bs stabilized the front and began to chew thru the Goon-pet fleet.
At 19:44 hours the IRC carrier piloted by WarlordKane failed on its shields and soon died. After that, it was "save who can" and there were a few more kills as pilots escaped to stations and pos's. Of course, all those other IRC and ED pilots continued to rat just a few jumps away or run missions in Empire...

Dude, shows how much you know.
SoT hit IRC and killed the Carrier. Not MM. They turned up about an hour later and sniffed around some of the wrecks at the gate, killed a covops at the station and left.
I found this all out on their killboard..

Just to add: Mad Props to SoT for what they brought tonight. Some of the best PVP tactics I've seen for a very long time!

I am the scorp pilot who got popped, I knew I will be primary, but FC kept assuring me that 2 carriers can rep me fast enough... gf guys, we lacked tactics, I wish I was FCing and thanks for bringing the fight. Gf

O_o The hell they did, they brought in a nice sized gang and (unless I missed it because of me having to leave for work) we tangoed. SoT killed the carrier. Was an interesting fight and good too, :D Reminded me of the good ole days. Too bad I got insta-primaried :D and then D/Ced only to reconnect in a station... >.>

Wait... IRC gets plenty of combat experience fighting the nefarious drones in D-IZ. They're even bold enough to undock their carriers in this endeavor and fight tooth-and-nail in the "oooohhh shiny!" belts.
