Just curious how many people managed to get, and still have, +4 Standard implants, and which ones they have.
I've got Perception, Memory, and Intelligence.....and they cost me an arm and a leg.

Just a small and maybe silly thought here.. Is it still somehow possible to get +4 implants as loot or mission prize ? If the answer is no .. then it's not really fair , if you ask me.

What's unfair about some people buying implants when they were available and some people not?

I managed to nab a +4 perception less than a week ago in FA space, for 33 mil.
A bargain really, considering the ones I saw in empire were like 100m.

Unfair because other's have no way of attaining them and only those that had heaps of money during the time they were in the game actually got them ?

That's not unfair. That's just you missing out on the shot you got. Noone to blame for that but yourselves...
Fair doesn't exist in this game. Everyone who were in game (at the time) had an equal chance of obtaining them. And people joining after that occasion can't really be included in this "fair", since they've missed out on tons of more stuff, like mining Crokite in 0.6 sec, or fitting 5 weapon mods without stacking penalty. Noone complains about that though.
Games develop. Fair doesn't exist. Only getting and ceasing opportunity.

The major difference is that the benefits of getting them at the time are permanent, not transitory. Everyone that got them has (assuming they never got killed) potentially got a higher attribute set than anyone newer to the game and will therefore train faster and accrue a greater number of skill points over time than anyone newer to the game. This effectively means that the skill point gap between those that were fortunate enough to obtain them and those that arrived later will be expanding until those implants are introduced back into the game.

The key in that statement was "supposed they never get killed". By that reasoning it's unfair that some people purchased the account earlier than others, since that means they will always have higher skills than newer players with the same attribute setup.
The game develops. As soon as a parameter changes the concept of "fair" ceases to exist. Thus "fair" has no place in a MMORPG

Yes, and they still learn faster. The issue isn't having more skill points, it's about continuously obtaining skill points faster. It is impossible to narrow the gap between the skill points and it is even impossible to remain equal in difference.

The fact that you consider some players having a permanent advantage over other players that have no chance what so ever to get the same just because they weren't playing at some specific time point is stupid.
Either those +4 implanst should be in the game or not, they shouldnt be in just for 'some people'.

1 extra gives you what, 4% faster training . even if they was still out, its not really worth it --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. I forgot to ask her her phone number" - Nelix trist OMG im a pretzel!!! |

How much increase in % you get depends on the number of points you have in those attributes. If they are low, increase is bigger, if they are high, increase is smaller.
Number of points you train per minute is (primary + secondary/2), so you get 60 points per hour more if it is primary attribute in the skills you train, 30 if it is secondary and 0 if the skills you train don't have it as primary or secondary attribute. Oh and add to that 0-10% depending on your learning skill... So max profit is 66 skill points per hour. Not so drastic but still ads up to 49k points per month...

Hah, so you'd rather die than lose material possessions ? Cos that's what happens when you lose implants.. Losing the implants is part of dying. Death is nasty even when you get to be cloned :P
Anyways I piloted a ship for a while I would rather have died than lose, but that's the only ship I ever felt that way about.

Edited by: ClarCE on 24/05/2004 16:13:04 Is there a reason they are not in-game anymore? I wanted to buy a whole set, but then it came to it and there were none anywhere, so ended up with +3's, and at the moment they are still a rip off for what they do in my opinion at least..
Edit: I am certain that when I created my account, you could not adjust the attributes, so I'm BAINED with a stupid 17 in charisma, 9 in Memory!! and the rest are pretty sh*t aswell.
Training skills takes an age, and that 9 in memory is with a +3 implant, I should have given up on ClarCE along time ago and started again I guess.
Should have read the forums before signing up I guess
