O and 0 are identical in the in-game font. Therefore it is not currently possible to identify by sight the name of any 0.0 system with an O or 0 in it.
Bar the 0 or something? Please?

Often times getting names of systems is difficult because 1's and i's, or O's and 0's look identical it makes it unnecessarily annoying.

Long, long time ago, in the murky darkness of the early computers, an O and a 0 were distinguished by having a diagonal slash run through the 0, but not the O.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that giving that habit up costs enterprises millions of euros globally every year.

0 and O aren't the only letters needing better differentiation. There are countless systems out there that cause communication troubles.

Yes, use the diagonal line in the 0 like you see in the original metroid for the NES console. that would solve it in a very retro manner

Then don't join a corporation or alliance naming them like that.
I assume by Danton's "Corporate and alliance references" that the names are only visible to members of the corp/alliance.
So a system could be called by a different name in every alliance. A clever UI would even know how to convert this, so if I made a link in chat to a system named "Leftnut", a person in a different alliance would see in his chat "Rightnut" if that's what they call the system. |

Sadly a change in font has been begged for in the past, since Dec. '03 and probably earlier. I think CCP like to watch us beg.
Fix it already!  Or let us choose from multiple fonts. Something, anything, but this font is very hard to read!

why add extra levels of complication to it? your just creating more calculations for the server to do, and thus adding to the already bad lag.
put a / across the 0 or make all letters in the system names small like o

Is that an 03 or O3?

I wish some of these software houses would do it as well since many key codes that you have to type in to software to register them have 0 and O in them. M$ are probably the worst for that.

Agree with this one - I have a character that has a "0" at the front of their name... people often confuse this for a "O" which causes much trouble in communication.

worst idea ever, you are just gonna make the zero look like another letter instead of the O. the Danish alphabet has got a letter that is an O with a bar through it.

I believe the character you speak of is a more rounded O with a bigger bar crossing through it and carrying on over the edges. A barred zero is more oval and the bar stays inside the edge, I'm sure these differences could be reflected in the character set?
In any case, we still need to be able to distinguish between zero and the letter o, if not with a bar than in a difference in rounding.
