is optimal range + accuracy falloff the maximum range of your guns ? |

No, accuracy falloff is somewhat similar to minimum recommended fire distance ;) Below this distance the accuracy of your weapons discreases very rapidly. So you should keep a distance to your target that's between optimal range and accuracy falloff. _______________________________________________________________ [ 2004.04.14 12:26:17 ] (combat) <color=0xffbbbb00>Your 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Guardian Initiate, wrecking for 172.8 damage. |

NO, falloff is actually exactly what he said. Max range = optimal + falloff Min range = 0 Best range = optimal range
There's no minimum range, only tracking limitations. Two targets can use long-range battleship weapons at eachother at 0.5km range if they want too, however unless they're both standing still they won't hit.

No pegasus, actually he is right.
optimal+falloff is max range.
oops. Jarjar beat me to it.
Essentially, optimal range is that upper boundary of the range at which your gun will do their 100% damage. 1km would indeed be extactly the same as your optimal range, were it not for tracking making shorter range accuracy abysmal.
so essentially, with say 50km optimal range, you can shoot your enemy anywhere between 10 and 50 km and do the same damage, only above 50 the fallof begins to decrease damage and accuracy, leading to about 0% chance of getting a decent hit at (optimal+fallof) max range. _______________________________________________
