My Interpretation of the Latest Trailer (Jovians)

At the end of the clip, an Ammar BS fires a green weapon that jumps from ship to ship, destroying them almost instantly. That reminded me of the weapon used in the Battle of VakÆAtioth story here: http://www.eve-online.com/background/potw/11-02-05.asp Plus the guy talks about taking a side. The Jovians have been neutral up to this point, but perhaps they are looking to get more involved with galactic affairs. He also says that the cycle of life and death was to end with them. Of all the races, the Jovians are the most advanced because the collapse of the Eve gate didn't impact them as harshly, and they didn't lose all their advanced knowledge and have to start from scratch, like the other races. Perhaps they still recall the original purpose for colonizing New Eden was to get away from the warring corporations of the Milky Way galaxy, and start a newer, more peaceful home. Anyway, that's my theory.

They hate the ammar, but for the sake of neutrality they don't make it public, hell they destroyed the gates to their space after that battle so it could never happen again. Jovians aren't backing anyone. If you ask me it's their mortal enemy that is behind all of this.

But it did look like a superweapon that took down a minmatar titan, fired from the Amarr fleet of battleships in the vid. Abrazzar	Posted - 2008.06.21 13:33:00 - [8] The speaker is talking about the Capsuleers, imho. They are the only unaffiliated immortals around that can choose a side and unleash on their enemies. The Jove may back one side or the other with technology to even things out. They have no interest in any one side dominating the rest. That's why they slapped the Amarr at Vak'Atioth. Also they are controlled by intellect, not sympathy, so they are not beyond giving out a one-shot Pimpslap of Doom to the Amarr to get the Minmatar back in line. -------- Ideas for: Mining

Anyway, that's my theory. The Jovian weapon was attached to a mothership (which was more of a titan at that time in EVE), and was a massive beam, not some uber chain lightning ability.

It's not a Jovian weapon (it's clearly blue not green), it's not a "transmission", and it's not even from (spoiler). Also technically the target ships destroy themselves as a result of the weapon rather than being destroyed by the weapon. ------

I mean it's odd that they would make a transmission look like that, instead of just an invisible signal. But I haven't read the book. And besides, would they even base this expansion trailer off the story in the book? you haven't been paying attention have you... everything happening in the trailer and in the game is what is happening in the book, the book is real time and possible goes beyond our current play time. that was the eldar fleet above sarum being taken down by the hier.
