is anyone else sick to the back teeth with all this lag, extended downtime and unscheduled re-boots?
ok, i apprecieate ccp need to improve their servers etc with all the new players, but surely these things should be tested before being implemented on the live system? checked to ensure its not gonna screw anything up and that it wont cause so much lag that the game is unplayable for hours on end. then just when the module you have been trying to fit you your thorax for the past 30mins finally attaches itself to your ship, a message appears on the screen to say there is an unshceduled re-boot happening in like 5 seconds!!
I love eve and this is not gonna make me give up on it, but surely im paying ú8 a month for this service that isnt working right or available most of the time. Topic Locked - Zhuge Liang

it's not that bad man...the uptime is pretty good and all things considered with all the content in EVE, and all the new stuff coming out they are not doing all that bad.
They could hire 20 more programmers and IT people, but then you'd be paying more than you do now and people would surely complain about that too. ------------------------------------------------

It is very hard to test the hardware before adding it to the servers and it is impossible to know what can happen after changes of that scale.
It has all been tested back and fourth on paper before it was decided to do this but it is again impossible to predict what can happen, thus the lag and the reboots, which are to fix the problems after they have discovered after going live.

Sorry mate but I really think you need to get a grip. Everyone goes on about how they are paying their ú8 (or whatever currency) and so they expect a stable service. I have said this before and I will say it again, this is a live continuous development environment and so you have to expect it to stagger from time to time, thats what you get for going with the cutting edge of technology and game play.
You want stability? Go play a nice sensible game that doesn't really change very much, like maybe Earth and Beyond. Oh, wait, they cancelled that because everyone was leaving as it had become boring!
And stop whining about the money. You spend more than that on a round of drinks down the pub or a night out at the pizza parlour or cinema. Eve is a damn sight better value for money than anything else you could spend that cash on!
Personally I think CCP need to work on their communication but then again I have known MMOGs that were 5+ years old where it was no better or even worse. I think Eve is a great game and we should be cutting CCP some slack in thanks for them bringing it to us.

first you complain about lag, then you complain that they reboot the server to fix the lag ?
Sure server is laggy sometimes and it isnt that much fun, but it doesnt last for that long..What I dont understand is that everyone is making a new post every time this happends..

Edited by: Ronz on 14/05/2004 15:51:54 well maybe i just log on at bad times. seems to be quite bad for me. especially recently.
i have certain times i can be online and im finding it hard to fill my orders cause i cant mine the mins i need cause either eve is down, or there is an unscheduled re-boot when im mining or lag is so bad that by the time ive transferred the ore to my can, my cargo hold has overflown.
Its disheartening to say the least. and its all the worse cause eve is such a great game and im so badly addicted to it.
im sure you guys can understand where im coming from. im not saying ccp are doing a bad job, i know they work hard and they have always been prompt with their replies to my petitions. I just think they need to sort their servers out once and for all and be done with it. even if they took it down for a full day and got everything working then, instead of dragging it out over weeks of fustration.

At least the pub, pizza parlour and cinema are open and 'online' when I go there...and they don't close the doors suddenly while I'm spending my money....
You must realise that some people can't spend all time playing, and use the 'offline' time to do other stuff. I, and everyone else here, is paying for a product, and we expect to receive something for that payment. If it is not available, we, as paying customers, have the right to complain. If you don't mind losing money (which in effect is happening) every time the server goes down without notice, don't knock those people that wish to vent their frustrations - rather just go to the next post and continue reading.
If CCP can't manage to sort out problems during the 1 hour downtime every day, then at least extend it to 2 hours - this way people expect it and know when they can login.

Well make sure that you dont sleep, because you will loose money.. I agree that they maybe should have 2 hours downtime, but Im sure people would complain about that too. "oh I cant play.. I always play at this hour blabla". then they go to the forum and make sure they start their own thread about the same topic as the last 30 new threads. and btw read the eula (or whatever its called...)

I agree with Ronz on this one, we pay the cash but seems a very poor service, I only been using eve for 1 month and find the amount of down time very disapointing. I am sure they are losing more custom. Look at a few weeks ago upto 10k players on line. Great game when you can play it.

No we don't. Read the T&C's you agree to every time you play...

14.5.2004 Hardware upgrade
"We are having serious problem with this particular phase of the setup. We have IBM specialists on site who are working closely with us to resolve the issue. We expect some instability until 20:00 GMT"
It's just after 20:00, servers are up and things look to be running ok now, if you wish to leave constructive comments please do so in this thread so everything is kept in one place. Thank you.
