Hey guys,
Looking to train up for Interceptors and I had a few questions. Mostly, I would be flying it for gang work as a tackler. That huge warp disruption range is nice. Still, I would be soloing some and needed to know about turrets.
As I fly Minmatar, I think I'd go with a Claw, mainly because I think I could get more speed out of it with that extra low. I am dubious, however, whether or not Artillery will be able to track at the range I'd be tackling from. Nearly 30km warp disruption range, and a good orbit velocity, will 280mm Howitzers track effectively enough? My small gunnery skills are pretty well fleshed out.
Thanks!

I fly both Claw's and Stiletto's with over 200 combined kills with both. For a claw I fit ac's and a missile launcher. The main drawback with the claw isn't it's two mids it's the abysmal lock range. If you can afford it slap on a ionic projector, its a sensor booster in the form of a rig. Also with arty usually you'll equip a fitting mod in that extra low the claw has.
To me best affordable rigs for the minnie ceptors are: claw 1 ionic projector, 1 aux thruster stiletto 2 aux thruster's

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 23/06/2008 10:59:22 Tackling inties are not meant to do damage whatsoever, if you're in low sec most of the time you'll probably want the Claw due to it's superior speed, which helps you catching targets in belts. For war decs or in 0.0 you'll mostly sit at gates, for which you want the increased locking/scramble range of the Stiletto, also the midslots help to fit sensor booster(s) for increased locking speed.
For solo work a Claw works well but only if the target doesn't have webs, arties do crap all damage and you might as well not fit them at all.

The Claw really only works in AC mode due to the bad lock range. I've had some success kiting other inties and giving them arty to the face, but its rare and unreliable - in comparison, a 400mm plate-Claw setup gives you a decent buffer and good DPS for a solo option.
Stiletto's arguably the best tackling interceptor, but does the DPS of a wet paper bag. Use it only if you're working in a gang.
As far as your original question about tracking though, the 250s and 280s track decently enough. If you do intend on using them, make sure to try and work through the "keep distance" rather than "orbit" option to minimize transversal against smaller ships, while keeping yourself in a low-speed orbit if you're hitting something bigger.
Its really case dependent, best way to learn how it tracks is through experience.
