1: What is the first thing you do with your new found wealth?
2: What is the craziest thing you would purchase?
3: What aspect of your previously poor ass life would you retain?

I probably get hungry before I can think of something thats really expensive , so pure probability suggest it would be a meal. But one of the first things id buy, that i couldnt afford before, would probably be a house.

I would buy the single most powerful computer I could build with my own hands, then install it into a Van and use it to go to Lan parties.

Everything - I would just continue in style. And with my own house and invest most of it into the housing market and live life off of the rents!

1)While being interviewed would say, 'The following list of people can kiss my a$$...' Starting with the government of course.
2)Hire a Karate Guy. Someone irritates me...Karate Guy kicks his a$$. Cuts down on suing people and have instant gratification.
3)My possessions.
4)Build a home in the middle of the woods that could only be reached by hiking in, or helicopter.

1. Invest a majority of it, most probably in real estate (land) speculations and construction projects (housing units), but I'm open to alternatives. 2. I have absolutely no idea, or better said, no desire for anything really exotic. But I bet my S.O. has a lot of them. 3. Pretty much everything, I guess/hope... just a slightly different level of spending. 4. Toughest one. Personally, I'd prefer just about any city in the Netherlands, Danemark or even southern Sweeden, a medium-sized city in a cooler, temperate climate... my S.O. would probably prefer Istanbul, Cairo or any other huge city in a warmer climate.

Hmm.
1) Contact a bank to arrange a special higher-interest savings account for most of the money and only spend the interest. Set up a standing order of around ú100,000 per year from that account into my current account because realistically one person spending more than that is obscene. I'd probably spend the rest of the interest each year on registered charities, local regeneration projects and people I personally know that are poor and need some helping out. Some of the areas near where I live are real ****holes and some investment is sorely needed.
2) Land. Lots of land and a bigass house should do the trick :D.
3) Most of it, probably. Not having to worry bout bills and stuff would make life a lot easier but I don't see the point in going mad with all that money.
4) Probably where I am now in Northern Ireland.

1) Probably shop around for a nice house to live in.
2) Probably something silly like a vastly overpriced high end PC. Most would probably end up being invested and such to live of the intrests and dividents.
3) My hobbies probably, the rest could use an "upgrade".
4) No idea, probably somewhere with a nice temperate climate (not to hot/humid, can't take the heat well)

Edited by: Tatsu Tahime on 23/06/2008 13:30:46 1. Clear all my debts, get commercial pilot's license. 2. A C130 (or perhaps an A400M) transport plane that I kit out as a mobile home complete with SUV and satellite internet connection. 3. All my books...being rich will not remove my need for brain fodder. 4. I would live in the C130 and fly to wherever I want to live, use the SUV to explore then hop on to the next place.
Part of my funds would be funneled into safe, low risk investments and the building of a decent house for when I get too old to fly around in the C130. Plus it would serve as a place to ship the various strange souvenirs from my adventures.
...as an extra bonus crazy thing, the C130 would be modified to play the Indiana Jones theme through external speakers on takeoff and landing.

Sorry to bust your bubble but you will be nowhere rich enough to do this. An A400m costs Ç100 million each. Not to mention gasoline would cost a fortune.

1: What is the first thing you do with your new found wealth?
Celebrate with my Parents, then go the bank and arrange some safe investment for my money. I'm thinking GICs that mature every 5 years and live off the interest. To start get 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year Term GICs, and when they mature put them back for 5 years so I have income every year to live off the interest, which is 480,000 at 8% per year which is possible to get with such a large investment.
2: What is the craziest thing you would purchase?
Minivan with wheelchair ramp and hand controls for a disabled driver, because I know my friend is going to make me follow through on that deal.
3: What aspect of your previously poor ass life would you retain?
Pretty much everything with the exception of worrying about money. With 480,000 in interest coming in every year I'd be set for life.
4: Where would you like to live?
Despite what I've heard, Surrey, it doesn't seem that bad a place. Probably still live with my aunt and uncle for as long as I can keep my wealth secret. Its good to help family out, but I'm not one to give away money for free. Eventually move to Vancouver as I really like it there. -------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

Deposit some of the money into various accounts and invest the rest. Oh, and quit my job.
Quote: 2: What is the craziest thing you would purchase?
TBH, probably a house with some sort of classical architecture. Here in the U.S. our houses tend to be functional with little to no aesthetic value, and seeing street after street of the same crappy architecture is tedious and depressing. Not sure where I'd build it, though; see #4.
Quote: 3: What aspect of your previously poor ass life would you retain?
I'd retain gaming as my primary hobby, though likely in a reduced form given my newfound ability to travel and pursue other hobbies that I was too broke to afford previously.
Quote: 4: Where would you like to live?
To be quite honest, I've got no clue. I know I'd definitely move the hell out of Arizona (or, at least out of Phoenix - this place is waaaay too hot, too impersonal, and too depressing). Now that I'll have money to travel, I'd see what other states are like before deciding where to settle down. For that matter, I'd even check out several other countries. I'd be looking for a place that's cooler than Arizona but doesn't reach absolute zero during the winters. I'd also like somewhere with stunning landscapes, decent amounts of precipitation, and that is actually GREEN. True green, not this washed out brown- and yellow-green you get in the inferno in which I currently live. (There's just something soul-destroying about this place; it truly sucks.) -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!" |

Vanish. And get a lawyer. They always say to get a lawyer, something about the amount the government rips from you. You don't actually win the amount posted, more like half. As for the vanishing act there are tons of crazies, around here in the states atleast, that take up stalking you if you win, the only to get rid of them is by paying them off. Golddiggers hunt you down asking to marry you, scam groups want to sell you a surefire thing, scam artists left n right. Even if your not announced as the winner they still find you. So be prepared for an unwanted fan club.

1 Pay off loans, set up the folks. 2 Custome made car, composite body, hate the rust, also the design will be awesome. Once done I'd start building houses I'd like to see people living in once done with one I guess I'd start building another and selling them off at a profit' 'cause I know my kickass designs would sell.
