Are the descriptions for missions left deliberately vague so web sites, good idea, such as Eve survival can tell you what faction you are fighting.
Half of the agent description never mention what factions you are fighting thus you have to either remember, go to Eve survival or go out with a shuttle to see what to tank against.
It is always a good idea to research a level 4 mission which goes without saying but if you change agent it is likely missions you have become familar with will change faction & thus resists & god help you if you have the wrong resists.
Come on CCP- it is not rocket science to make all the descriptions in missions consistent. It just needs a little table which shows who you are fighting & what to tank against. I'm working on Omni tanking because it takes away the worry of having the right resists.
This is not a whine but I'm finding increasingly as I get more into the game how inconsistent the descriptions are.
I lost a ship yesterday because Eve survival was down & I could not remember the resists & it sure as hell was not in the mission description.

Normally the insignia of the Faction you will be fighting against is next to the destination in the Journal entry. If it isn't, it means multiple factions (which will be in the description. Notable example of this is World's Collide), Enemies of mankind or Mercs (Both of which you tank Kin/Therm I believe) or a drone mission, which will be made blatantly obvious in the description.
Also for the resists, I started off with a post-it note next to my monitor until I learnt them. I don't think CCP should supply resist information. That is something you should discover for yourself.

It isn't Rocket Science either to click on the "Could you give me more details?" link given with every mission. Nine times out of then you will find half of your answer there.
The other half is for you to either learn by trial and error, or use the countless other EvE resources available to find your answer. I would say that at least 33% of all character bios in EvE contain the exact information you're looking for.
While I agree with you that CCP are not forthgiving in information about their game, your post comes off as whining (despite your own words) because all the information you want isn't spoonfed to you by the game.
Oh, and while EvE Survival is a wonderful resource for missions, it has been plagued by server difficulties lately, so we have had to learn to be without it. I suggest you do the same. The only person that is to blame for the loss of your ship is you. |

Edited by: Hanneshannes on 23/06/2008 11:59:43 It's funny how ppl take stuff like eve-survival or all the other sites about missions and tanking for granted.
How do you think the ppl in hte beginning found out?

The mission description could be more helpful, agreed, but in most cases you can just jump into a shuttle and take a look - if the helpful sites are down.
What would be great is an in-game way to find out what damage type you are being hammered with, which at the moment is only possible if you are hit by missiles.
