Edited by: Varia on 15/05/2004 11:06:59 I've been asked to organize a corp event just recently and I decided to offer it as a general invite to the eve community.
Due to the nature of this rally and the complexity of this event I will have to limit the numbers of gumballers, this number is still to be decided. There may also be a small entry fee for this event, amount to be decided.
Whats is it all about
The Gumball rally is normally a road race between point A to point B covering around 3000 miles passing various check points on route. To get an idea of what this event is all about check out the Gumball Rally 3000 site At http://www.gumball3000.com/new/launch.htm (sorry not sure how to make linkage).
The Eve Gumball Rally will be of a similar type race.
Any ship is allowed to enter except for battleships. If your ship gets destroyed along the way you can re-enter the race at the last check point you passed, once you have a new ship. (you will need to inform a referee).
The event will be in two legs and each leg will take place on seperate days (taking around 2-3 hours per leg) Each leg is time based so it could be possible to lose one leg but still win the overall rally from the 2nd leg.
There will be 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes for the fastest Gumballers, 1st prize being 100 mil isk.
If your interested at talking part please leave your name below, time for the rally is still to be decided.
Please beware that it may be possible to lose your ship during this event, this rally will require more than just speed but cunning and dareing as well oh and maybe a few waepons just to make sure .
I'll post more details later
Thanks for reading.

The route is not decided yet so i can't tell you, the chances are it will be empire rangeing from 0.8 - 0.1.
The 1st leg will end at a station.

Hmmm, Not sure how you plan on having any kind of real "combat" (even pot shots) in empire, unless you put a lot of checkpoint thingies in .4 or lower around planets, moons, belts, or POI's heheh.
Otherwise, this sounds like a pretty cool event, but like I said, unless you figure out a way to ensure some violence CAN (not will but CAN) occur, you better choose the route carefully, and make sure that at the very least, the checkpoints can be free from concord intervention.
Galaxion > If you drove a car shaped like a thorax women would call you Demangel > Dude... I would call.. Demangel > wait that sounded g@y I bet. Galaxion > Just a bit.

Edited by: Varia on 16/05/2004 15:50:00 There will be plenty room for danger in many parts of the rally.
I plan to use many moons and planets along the route, this rally wont just be a jump from system A to system B to syetem C kind of event but more towards using the almost limitless space that we have and hardly ever use.
Hopfully even if you dont win each player will have discoved more about eve and learned a few tricks along the way.
I'm also seriously considering not to bother with an entry fee to this event.

Edited by: Varia on 17/05/2004 13:27:07 Great, if we can get 2 more who are interested then IÆll happily continue the organization of this event. Please let your friends know about this event the more people who take part the better.
Please be aware the event will start and end in a 0.8 system, if youÆre unable to enter such systems due to any unforeseen security status reduction you will not be able compete or complete the rally.

This has been mentioned several times about interceptors having advantage over the other competitors, sure the interceptors are fast but so can several frigates.

Well, the hare was dumb enough to go to sleep whilst in sight of the finish line.. anyone that stupid deserves to loose.
I'll remember not to dock one jump before the end to have a nap

I have around 19 confirmations so far which is great. If you feel like joining in on this event please post here or send me an eve mail, I would like to get to around 25 players at least.
Each registered Eve Gumballer will receives an email stateing the start system of this race 4 hours before the race starts.
The race itself will start as a time trial rally I.e, Gumballers will start at 1-5 minute intervals depending on how many are taking part.

I'm interested
Just a few questions, firstly it doesnt specify that you cant have a friend collect the items, so a person could collect half and someone else do the rest and give them all to the one in the race before the finish line, is this ok?
Secondly, what if one of the race contestants tells someone where a checkpoint is so that they camp it and destroy all ships other than the one who organised it?

Edited by: Varia on 25/05/2004 11:05:52 The easy anwser is no, only the ppl taking part in the rally may collect what is needed.
Having your friends help collect siad objects is not in the spirit of the game, taking more than one object or bm is not in spirit of the game.
Have fun, try your best if you don't win then hopfully you have had fun in the process.
Rather than having your friends help why not join in, the more taking part the better.

The next event will be anounced here.
