Edited by: Grim on 15/05/2004 16:23:34 I'm not sure the purpose of this post, i just wanted to write something.
It seems that people who started from day one are neglected. Yeah, ok so we have 9Million plus skill points and a battleship but. Noobs nowadays (god i feel old) get so much support and even get tutorials. After all, we had to wait 4 months (thats a guess) for implants and the like.
Its all well and good getting new players into the game but surely there must be some incetive to keep old players as well.
What are others feelings about this? I've submitted a idea in the idea forum for a few things but no result as of yet.

This game is already difficult to learn if ur a noob, noobs = CCP profit. CCP wants them to stay, so they make everything easy to learn as possible and make it the most interesting game they have ever seen so they will stay. We are at the top of the chain, we know how to play, we know what to do, we know alot. ---

I think alot of us would like to see some reward once we get to 1 year of from eve or something along the lines... My main account/Character has been around since 6 June (took a while to get the game) and it would be nice to see something only old players get on the 6th June in my hanger.

My suggestion, which is absolute genius and should be obeyed immediately:
Annual stat resets.
I know that my main character has a pretty stupid statpoint spread. I'd like to redistribute it to give myself more perception and willpower. How about letting people move their statpoints around once a year?

Wish i was old, i've only been here a little while since u could download it coz it wasn't available here.
It would be nice if those older players got something simple but unique to celebrate 1 year anniversaries and such, i mean hey u guys celebrated it on the main page, why can't the players seeings as they've been here from the beginning too.

I would like some cosmetic changes, finaly finish my turn to the camera, some grey strands in my hair. But a simple change in my char pict would result in everybody who has my picture rendered ingam to have that image replaced aswell.

Orriginally, WAY back (some of you old timers might even recall this), CCP spread around the rumor/promise that as characters grew in skill points/age whatever, they would get access to things that would alter thier portrait.
For example, for a fee (they used to say) you could alter your portrait.
After a certain level, you would get new options for customization to use with that portrait alteration.
Including, but not limited too: Implants, new hair styles, special background portraits, jewelry, tatoos, and a host of other things.
Considering however that the portrait is one of the more useless peices of EVE ATM, it's understandably something thats low on the priority list.
I doubt I would qualify for any special treatment from EVE/CCP myself since I quit for 5 months and just got back recently...
But if I did, I would probably want something more or less honorary... I don't need ISK or modules...
But something that lets other players know I'm an old fart, and know my way around EVE pretty damn well even despite my 5 month hiatus.
But really it's a tricky question of how I would exactlty want that to be displayed.
and leads me again back to the portrait... But I don't really think thats needed...
Though to be totaly honest I would like to change my portrait a bit... I made myself look altogether too friendly and innocent... Good for selling things, but oh well, can't win em all.
Maybe though, old players should get an improved chance at getting involved in new content/GM events?
Oh well, Who knows... I wouldn't say we're really being ignored...
Remember the majority of the coolest new content will be designed with us in mind.
I can't think of a single noob who will be able to buy a interceptor after a few weeks without a major gift/donation, let alone a station

I kinda agree with Deadflip2, I've so far kept my nose fairly clean but after 12 months I've managed to get hold a lengthy employment history.
Most people now (escepcially new corps) are dubious of the long list coz they think i might be a scammer or corp theif. What they don't realise is that most of the corps i've been in were started by me and then left when they are up and running (or failed).
Like, I don't put my whole job history on my cv so perhaps a change in that might be wise, like only show employment history for the past 4 months, thats an easy enough change

Hm... If by CCP you mean players on the forums and if by rumour you mean the true definition of the word.
Seriously though, I don't remember CCP ever saying that but I do remember seeing a great number of posts in the ideas forum, each poster seeming to think his/her idea was innovative and unique, asking for that which you have mentioned.
And following this thread there is always the custom decals for ships thread...
The reason we can't have custom graphics for corporations, ship decals or character background art is the same:
- Too much bandwidth for other players.
- Too much storage space (the images would have to be hosted on the eve servers).
- It would be hard to scale up as the player-base increases.
- It adds a very small benefit to the game for the work required to implement or maintain it.
- Probably key reason why CCP isn't interested: There would invariably be a level of gaudiness brought into the game by certain players, detracting from the game.

Well, I agree with what some have said that the millions of skillpoints we older guys have are the reward. Many have also amassed huge wealth.
Of course we want content, events etc. but I don't feel they should be exclusive to us in particular.

I tend to agree with the "Rewards program" type of thing.
We have have all paid for a game which is essentially still in development and at least 6 months+ of being what it was promised. That takes some pretty hard core gamers and loyal customers.
It would be saavy business sense to reward people like that and not forget that although CCP got EVE off the ground it was the player base who keeps it going.

I've only been here since august, but I think features for the old guy would be nice. Modified portraits, change your portraint completely etc.
And obviously being able to move your attributes around would simply be awesome. Being one of those asian characters that might be coming out would be pretty nifty, too.
As for new ship skins, I think we should all be able to customize our ships...

I don't quite agree. Those of us who started an account a year+ ago have not necessarily been playing a year. Some of us have had breaks, for one reason or another.
If the database can cope, maybe any "reward" should take account of actually playing for a year (rather than holding an account). If the database can't cope, then skillpoints seems a good way of sorting the hard-core from the soft.
Just to declare my interest, account started 5/5/03, skillpoints only 8.5M. Should have logged on to train

Bah... that was the fun of it all!
I remember release very fondly... mining Omber for hours in my Velator to save up and buy an Imicus... the roid belts seemed HUGE back them...
Then working with my corp to be THE first corp in Gallente space to produce Tristans and Iterons... and by the time we were really shifting...
I remember the first Thoraxs on the market, costing a whopping 25Mil ISK (almost unhead of to have that much back then).
The first Armageddon on the market, 185Mil, the first Apoc, 225Mil... ah... those were the days...
People do have it very easy these days, when corps will hand you out frigates and cruisers left, right and center.

eve is pronounced dead / asleep prior to every major patch. It's just us players being impatient and unwilling to buy expensive stuff without knowing exactly how the nerfbat will hit. I remember an overwhealming sence of dullnes prior to castor which was followed by a "OMFG THIS GAME IS SCREWED UP" right after Castor. Then after a few weeks we had all come to terms with the changes and were back to having fun
