I created a petition 4 days ago about the loss of my pod due to my connection being dropped after that window resizing patch. Not much was lost other than 25-30 million in implants I was hoping to get back.
Well I got a prompt response after a couple hours. I wasn't happy with the answer though (they basically said they don't want to give petition exploiters any leeway so they're going to **** over even the honest petitioners). Well, they replied with some garbage about needing solid proof that there was connectivity issues.
So of course I pointed the GM to the CCP-made thread now stickied here. Ever since that I have not received a response (going on 4 days now)
So does CCP just ignore petitions they dont want to address?

Yes.
Often ive been told by GMs that they need to escalate a petition, then nothing more ever happens. ______________________________

Give CCP the tools and knowledge to see who is honest and who is not. Then you can return with your proof of honesty. At present, they cannot and a lot of people have/are exploiting that. Worst case I've heard, was a guy losing a Bhallgorn, just to type in local "Meh, I'll get it back from the GM's".
So the GM's stand on an dobble edge sword and have to balance everything. And since they only get banter and slanter for their efforts, I don't blame them for closing the doors unless they are 120% certain (ie server crash).

So whenever I lose a ship I can just petition it and blame the connection?

4 days aint much. Usually use 1-2 months before they ban macros.

Edited by: Daelorn on 24/06/2008 13:48:46 Why would you point them to a thread they are already aware about? They cant prove you got disconnected, you wont get your stuff back, get over it. Plus its 30 mil, I wouldn't even waste CCP's time over 30mil.
PS. 4 days isn't very long, I've waited over a month on petitions before.

Sure if you can somehow organize a mass outage of thousands of players at the same time to get back a 2.5 Million ISK osprey. Then yes, smartass

How is it wasting their time, please explain. They get paid to support this product. Are you saying only old school players with lots of money should matter? If so, why? You aren't paying anymore money to play than I am.
I wouldn't be worried about it if they didnt respond within a day the first 3 replies, but now they have the so called evidence they need and they haven't said a word in 4 days. Just seems suspicious if they're not going to reimburse it then it shouldn't take 4 days to say so.

I only ever filed one petetition and it was a pointless one to which I already knew the answer at that and I received a response not 4 hours later, so I can't complain :D

Sorry, but it doesn't work this way. For one, CCP has stated many times that lag is not a valid reason for reimbursement. Secondly, assuming it was, do you think things would go faster if they sat there and looked through each persons individual internet connection to see if there was a significant lag spike that would've caused it?
Also, when you escalate a petition, at each GM level there are less and less GMs, so escalating it makes it take longer. Especially when a whole lotta people are asking to escalate it.

For one , it wasn't a Dreadnaught or some other expensive item.
For two, in the two months I've been playing Eve this is the first time I've petitioned a ship/pod loss.
and lastly, they themselves were aware of connection problems affecting alot of players.

It's only been 4 days. Give them some time. I'm sure they have a ton of petitions from the disconnects. They usually don't reimburse for that but since it was so wide spread they might be thinking about what to do. Regardless 4 days isn't that long.

The servers were not the cause for the disconnects. Nothing on CCP's end was faulty. Therefore they are not able to verify the validity of your claim and have to reject your demand for reimbursement. You could have as well just ctrl-q'd when you got in a tight situation instead of getting disconnected. There is no difference on the logs.
I belief if you are petulant or insulting enough on your petitions you will get moved to the petition bot that keeps your petition dormant for two weeks to two months and then rejects it with a standard response.
Abuse of the petition system might even lead to the termination of your account due to your subscription being not worth the customer support costs, though I have yet to hear of a case like that.

Napro, cut the stimulants, you are too edgy.
To put it simply, read the reimbursement rules before doing a petition.
The disconnection (as explained in the thread you are citing) are net related, not CCP relates. So CCP can't control if really disconnected because of a problem with the net or because you pulled the plug in your PC before losing the pod.
Hence as the cause of the disconnection is not CCP dependent you will not be reimbursed. You will be reimbursed only if the cause is a bug in eve or a problem of the EVE server.

Get over it, you lost an internet spaceship.... It really is not something worth petitioning and getting all spun up about.

I don't recall anywhere saying it was CCP's fault. Merely that there is solid evidence of connection issues for thousands of people.
If CCP thinks I should be out of my hard-earned items , well that's that. No reason I should continue grinding away for bigger ships that can be lost on a whim.

Do you realize this whole game is about internet spaceships? What in this game is worth petitioning if not a spaceship?

PROTIP: They can see that many people disconnect, however, you seem to obviously glance over every time someone writes the answer to you; IF IT IS NOT AN ERROR ON CCP'S END, YOU WILL NOT GET REIMBURSED
Secondly, you miss the point that you can't prove that you disconnected legitimately. How do they know you didn't just pull the plug on your computer when you got in trouble? Or there was a local power failure? Or that your computer rebooted? Or another of a thousand other possibilities?
Their logs do not say "oh look, Napro is out in his spaceship and OMG A LEGITIMATE DISCONNECT!". It simply says "Oh, Napro is there and now he is gone".

lol, at least he admits that he just skips the parts he doesnt want to read. Heres the official line:
Originally by: CCP reimbursement Policy 1. LOST SHIPS
Please note that the insurance payout received when a ship is lost will be subtracted from a playerÆs wallet if the ship is reimbursed.
Ships may be lost during combat with non-player (NPC) pirates or police forces, player-vs-player (PVP) combat or by self-destruction.
a. Ships lost in NPC combat may be replaced in cases where a bug has been verified through GM investigation as the cause. Such reimbursement would only be done at the discretion of a GM. b. Ships lost during PVP combat may be replaced only in cases where a bug has been verified as the cause of the loss. Such reimbursement would only be done after an investigation and at the discretion of a GM. c. Losses caused due to disconnection as a direct result of a server node drop or an unannounced server downtime may be reimbursed pending investigation by, and at the discretion of, a GM. Ships lost due to lag or non-server related disconnection will not be reimbursed. d. Ships destroyed by use of the "self destruct" feature, whether intentionally or accidentally, cannot be reimbursed.
CCP reimbursement Policy
Important part bolded.
Short version: You will not get reimbursed.
