I did a search on 'faction warfare' but all I could find were speculation posts some over a year old.
I'm very interested in checking this out, is there an FAQ on it?

Does this answer most of your questions?
Feel free to ask about anything specific that you want clarification on.

Edited by: Token1 on 24/06/2008 16:07:59 That helped out a lot thanks..
Here's some specific questions and I'll use me as an example;
1. I'm Caldari so I can only join the Caldari Faction corp right? And then that Corp is teamed with the Amarr?
2. Does Faction Warfare only occur in these given areas? Or if I'm out of those area's am I still at war with the other two factions?
3. Does faction warfare include things like capital ships or is that still left to 0.0 PvP?

1) You can join ANY faction that you want. You just need to go work for agents in the other faction for a little while to get your standings up, or join a player corp that already has the needed standings.
A key principle to understand about Eve is that your choice of starting race has no in-game limitation. It is a superficial choice. Nothing about your choosen race will limit your ability to pursue any interest you might have within the game.
2) Faction warfare can occur anywhere. While in your hi-sec space you will have backup from your factions' NPC navy. There is no certainity that will be enough to keep you safe, but it will tip the balance in your favor. Likewise, in the opposing factions' hi-sec you will need to worry about the local NPC navy along with the opposing militia.
Low sec is simply where most of the objective are located. Obviously, you have freedom to engage the opposing militia there as with anywhere. The standard rules of engagement apply with regards to neutrals. CONCORD will not show up, but gate/stations guns and security status rules apply as always.
Null-sec has always been a free for all, and this has not changed.
3) It can include capital ships, but many of the objective bar capitals from entering. I expect that you can have a good time in faction warfare without needing to worry to much about capital ships. However, don't be suprised if you see them occationally.
