Just the other day I was editing a document, and I wanted to delete the character after the cursor, and it took me TWO key presses to do so: right, and then backspace. But now that I have discovered the delete key, my editing efficiency has been doubled! Just think of the number of characters I will delete in my life time, and now it will take me half as long! The insert key allows you to change from insert cursor mode into overtype cursor mode in some applications.
