Am I the only one who find it disturbing that this ship got another turret, but no boost to CPU nor grid makeing fitting it a nightmare. I really think a grid boost of 100 with 20 more cpu or so would be in order to accomodate fitting another gun (FMP in most cases). _______________________________________________________________________________ EVE Online: The Hand-holding Age The truth about balance is that it doesn't exist. |

I'll admit that fitting is a nightmare, and that Heavy Pulse are almost certainly out of the question. But I think people are looking at this the wrong way - I've seen a lot of posts coming across as indignant that the Omen got an extra hardpoint but no fitting increase, and acting as if it was somehow worse than before because it's "harder to fit" now.
The extra hardpoint gives you flexibility, and means that you can fit 5 heavy pulse in the highs with an RCU in the lows (and DC + 3 HS II as well for a very ganky ship) - but just because there are 5 turret hardpoints, doesn't mean they have to be filled with the highest-calibre weapons. It's a fitting challenge - if you want to use the extra turret, you'll have to give something up from a 4 turret setup to fit it. Or if you really don't like the change, you can keep using your previous setup. This has not struck me as a problem.

omen has never been able to fit heavy pulse, even before the extra turret boost
only a handfull of ship can fit hp, BCs and the zealot tbh.
fit mfp
5x mfp II AB II, warp disruptor II, web small rep II, 800 plate, thermic membrane, kenetic membrane, HS II
something like that. you can play around with the lows

Edited by: Elhina Novae on 25/06/2008 12:44:15 If you want too fit Tier 2 guns, try out a Battlecruiser. Afaik the other races cant fit a full rack or in this case 5 tier 2 turrets on a T1 cruiser, maybe it's possible but i doubt there is mucho fittings left for anything else?
EDIT: Or you get a Zealot Somebody set up us the bomb |

Edited by: Tenuo on 25/06/2008 13:01:58 I don't want to fit Heavy pulses, but it's not possible to fit an 800mm plate and an mwd along with 5x FMP. It's possible on both the vexor and the rupture (stabber has another purpose so can't compare it). _______________________________________________________________________________ EVE Online: The Hand-holding Age The truth about balance is that it doesn't exist. |

Omens are cheaper than Mallers for a reason, I guess. May have to fit a PDU or an RCU.

The Rupture is a tier III cruiser the Omen is only tier II.
Also the Vexor only has 4 turret points. (Now that I look the Rupture only has 4 turret slots as well). ---------

Originally by: Tenuo I don't want to fit Heavy pulses, but it's not possible to fit an 800mm plate and an mwd along with 5x FMP.
This is exactly what I meant by having to make compromises. To get that to fit you can either drop a turret (bad idea really), change the MWD into an AB or drop the 800mm plate for a 400mm plate. Either of the latter two are reasonable depending on what you expect to be engaging and under what conditions (if you're just a damage dealer in a gang with dedicated tacklers, the AB is a reasonable choice, especially in situations such as empire wars - otherwise just take the 20% EHP loss for the MWD).
Also, both other ships you mentioned cannot fit 5 turrets anyway due to lack of hardpoints. They can fit four turrets, a MWD and the plate, but so can the Omen. That was the point I was making earlier, about how the additional turret hardpoint gets people assuming that they automatically deserve the fittings to use it freely. No other tier 2 cruiser gets 5 turret hardpoints so it's almost impossible to compare like with like.
