With all the top ten stuff coming out I'd be interested in hearing some sizing data. Final Fantasy XI has half a million subscribers. City of Heros has gained 100k subscribers in the space of no time at all. So how many subscribers are currently paying for Eve?

Doubtful or the maximum total online would be going up instead of down.

Devs stated that at peak times, 25% of all subscribers are online. So since the max is ~10k so far, I think we can safely assume that there are at least 40k subscribers.
You also have to remember a few things. EVE Online isn't for everyone, it doesn't have much mass appeal, it goes for a select audience. Also, other games have big names to them, like Everquest or Final Fantasy, long running and popular themes. For City of Heroes, which I play, it offers a new idea in MMOGs where you can play a super hero similar to the ones in comics and has had a lot of people interested in it for a while. And EVE seems to be lacking a lot of advertising here in the USA, I haven't seen a box of the game here for well over 9 months. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

The current player base in in excess of 43k active accounts and 5k trial subscriptions. We didn't hit the 50k accounts at the 1 yr anniversary like we had hoped, but we got close. EVE's numbers are on the rise and only getting better.

There was a memo in CCP last month that all Devs and CSMs had to give up their social lives and concentrate solely on reading the boards. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |
