so anyone else remember the giant swarm of "no one will play faction warfare cause carebears wont go into low sec, pirates are too cool, and alliances can't join?"
well, 17000 people later some of those posts look kinda amusing, but i want to zero in on one part of those posts: the disco pirates
i remember dozens of posts about how people will sit at complex entrances in smartbombing battleships just raking in the kills. in reality, i am yet to see a single one. in fact, i'm yet to see a pirate in a complex. i saw a few at gates, but they never seem to engage.
why is that? are the waits too long? is it too dangerous now that the former mission runners are flying 30 deep? why no discos?

Has plenty of meaning if you saw all the threads before the patch predicting total failure of FW. And yes those people do look very stupid now. -----

Disco ships don't work 5km around gates (and the invisible box around them is already larger than the visible gate itself). This measure was introduced along with FW, guess why... . |

by the vast sensible majority, FW is to be avoided.. yay blobs in lowsec.. perfect..
at least its only Drake/Merlin spam and a few roaming gangs in between.
i watched in horror as 2 badger mk 2's AUTOPILOT through Tama, sujarento etc.. i mean wtf? the blobs cant handle gate guns due to using crappy ships/setups.
this post actually does not contribute to the thread in any way. :( was meant to write a long epic tale of how those naysayers are indeed correct, carebears do go into lowsec but in badly tanked 100dps ships that just make anybody with a clue Chuckle On Sight.
i'm guessing you are on of these carebear types too ^_- judging by this thread and your comments that are perhaps trying to Goad flames
"why is that? are the waits too long? is it too dangerous now that the former mission runners are flying 30 deep?"
/fail, why would anyone bother trying to come and kill you lot.. the loot from 50 t1 wrecks is poor

so true
but from my 10-day experience of FW, I can say one thing: it is more attractive to the new guys than it is to the veterans and such. It's a simple way to PvP, while having all the drawbacks that you usually have in regular pvp. It also has proved to be good in attracting the new guys into the creation and establishment of a groundwork for future pvp endeavors outside FW. I expect that 1 in each 2 or 3 players in FW to "grow up" pvp wise, and migrate into a more pvp-based corp.
If CCP intended to make FW a "pvp tutorial" of sorts, then they were successful. ---

This measure was introduced in revelations mate, either rev 1 or 2, but it isn't new. -------------- Lord WarATron:

Edited by: Amastat on 26/06/2008 16:11:43 Edited by: Amastat on 26/06/2008 16:10:50 I've ignored FW because I knew the incentives were going to be worthless and very broken - and I have not heard this has changed.
However, can't really say its broken because I have chosen not to participate in it, so what's exactly going on now, I cannot say - and it seems to be doing well for itself already, based on how many people are involved; which makes it not broken. Either that or we are experiencing a case of mass-stupidty in EVE-O community that doesn't see the same light the OP sees - or the OP is the one who sucks
Only thing I could really call broken and dead is the incentives and how worthless they are. I'm not giving up my safe-access to Caldari and Amarr space for ****, craptastic, worthless, epic fail, vomit-inducing incentives - at least the incentives to the PvE. I mean really - If I can't properly go to flipping Amarr, or Jita, to sell crap/buy crap, I had better get ISK/items to make it worthwhile to pay for all the **** that pops in FW.
I don't really have the lunary of another account to provide my war-fund, nor the patience to log off and on alts to move crap between Jita and Amarr - but the big stuff I still can't buy because it simply cannot be moved, unless I have a freighter, which would be months away from any alt I have. I rather not get a freighter alt really until I have a 2nd account active really, which I'm not prepared to spend money for yet.
Don't really possess any combat alts at all either, so no point doing FW on a alt - since I don't own any right now. ____________________

Most in FW arent pirates.
On topic, i saw them once when in a complex fleet of arround 20 ships, some cruisers and mainly frigs/destroyers to do lvl 1 and 2 plexes. 3 pirate battleships were on an acceleration gate, they were pretty fast destroyed with many drones and guns. But they came back with 3 new battleships, this time remote repped and with smartbombs against close range frigs and our drone swarm. We did beat them again with pretty low losses, but it took arround 15 minutes.

He meant the part about the gate hitboxes being much larger than the visible gate, that's been in since Rev 1/2.

Define incentives. Thousands of people are doing FW and enjoying it, so I'd say there are ample incentives. If you mean "ISK payouts" then yes, they are low. Not everybody plays EVE to farm ISK. You just keep missioning in Motsu and counting your ISKies, the rest of us will be having fun, ok? Now go back to your Achura cave. . Seeking frigateers!

You have to ask what they do to pay for their ship losses then. Chances are they have an alt/alts to ship the items they need, and/or to make the money they need to pay for everything. Either that or they PvP cheap in throwaway ships.
When I say incentives, I'm talking about some means to pay for everything that pops. This may be easy for a cheapass such as yourself who may only pvp in cruisers and frigates, but I have a fondness for using the full array of t2 ships avaliable in EVE.
As I said, I don't have a second account that is a indy to produce everything I need, and fund all my PvP leisure - and I don't have a alt capable of moving battleships and t2 fleets where I want them out of Jita/Amarr. This is why I'm not playing - because theres not enough money with the PvE side of FW to make it affordable for me to use the ships I want - and I'm not a cheapass, so boo-hoo if you don't know what that's like. lol.
Your obvoiusly just a sad little troll - pretty mcuh everyone who has experiencecd FW has commonly agreed that the missions and PvE side of it and the ISK in it is worthless and no one gives a crap about it - everyones just in it for the pew-pew. It's just a matter of who can afford to or not, and who want's to PvP all the time in frigates and cruisers, and who likes to use quality ships.
Why do you think the majority of ships in FW, especially that ones that die, are cheapass cruisers/frigates, and battlecruisers? Not that hard to replace, considering how worthless the pay of FW is - really hard to do anything beyond that really, unless you have ISK alts.
Next time read my entire post, instead of clipping what part you make a failed attempt to flame, 1.5 hours after it was posted. ____________________

For my shame I remember them. Apparently blocking the smarbomb for working within 5 km from acceleration gates and the fact that militia gangs are sufficiently large stopped most pirates.
That amaze me, like the fact that the low level mission are runn and have auto adjusted to reasonable even if not exciting levels fast (no idea for the high level missions, my militia alt can do only level 2).

They added in an additional 5000m for FW to counter officer smartbomb fitted carriers from camping fw plexs. As per rev 1 you could no longer use normal smartbomb fitted bs to camp accel gates unless you did the rancer trick. Loyal Member Of The 24th Imperial |

I guess someone didn't take their Valium today ... Anyway, try reading the patch notes again, then view the big bits highlighted in green... Oh waiiiiiihhhh hello there .....
Read, understand ... don't post about it....
Oh and TW the acceleration gates changes were introduced in FW not rev 2.. As I was smartbombing the crap out of them prior to FW.
